Hot on the heels of Porsche official naming of the Macan baby-Cayenne SUV, we've got spy photos of the 2014 Porsche Macan testing in the Arctic.
Don't be confused by the Audi Q5 duds, this is simply Porsche's way of throwing casual observers off the trail. Porsche is testing the new SUV here alongside its big brother so expect this one to be at least partially qualified in the arts of soft roading.
After the jump we've got a close-up of the grille. Check the sensor (radar cruise, automatic braking, other driving aids) and the visible plumbing. We've yet to hear official word on what will power the Macan, but if the current trend of things continues, don't be surprised by a small turbocharged powerplant.

The Audi face looks a lot better on a CUV than the Porsche face does IMO.

Is this really the Arctic?

Well, nice to know that they appear to have diners in the Arctic, if I go I will have a nice place to eat.
And I like the cool Jeepster type vehicle in the background better than the Poirsche/Audi ones.

All I saw was "WILLYS" with crappy wheels.

Turbo 4 would be very nice. I'm guessing the base engine will be a amped up 2.0, with a Panamera V6 as the top end engine.

I could be wrong, but doesn't the green Porsche further down look exactly like a Porsche version of the Q5s? And exactly like the Macan drawings? Looks too small to be a Cayenne to me...

Okay, I have to ask this now. IL what is it with digitizing out driver's faces and license plates? Worried about getting sued by some manufacturer's engineer? Is it a means of protecting the photographer or his company?
This can't be something relating to privacy. The picture is taken in a public place and a licence plate in my opinion, is not really a personal item. It is for public information for matters relating to crime or the motor vehicle act.
I don't get it and it is not done consistently.

The Porsche face doesn't work here, IMO. The Macan already looks dated.
I know that Sibylla is a restaurant in Sweden, so I'm assuming that's where they are. Not exactly the arctic but I bet it does get damn cold up there.
I'm curious about that old school truck looking thing....what is that??

Gotta agree with Cobryson, isn't the green machine next to the two "audi" mules the actual Macan? I'm pretty sure the Cayenne's trapezoidal grille was wider at the top than it is at the bottom (notice the green car is opposite), and it's not much bigger than the Q5's adacent.

Oh boy! Another bug-ugly german SUV.

@garrym, they like to protect the driver's, not so much here, but they appreciate someone who doesn't understand confidentiallity rules, it means more pictures for them. These pictures are a big money business, when I was out at our proving grounds we had a plane circling with its numbers taped over, taking pictures out the side. It wasn't even anything special either.

Wife will want it. She's already bugging me about if she can get Cayenne to replace her Audi in a year or two. When she sees a smaller version of the Cayenne made by her beloved Porsche...oh man...

Porsche needs a compact Diesel-Electric hybrid with AWD; the mileage of their existing hybrid SUV is pathetic!

Gotta agree... this picture sure looks like two Q5s between several Macans.

I thought the name of the "new" "Porsche" was going to be called Badge. Ya know? Cause it's badge-engineered n' stuff.

What's with the hood tabs? Is that just because they're mules and they don't have hood latches? I mean, that's what I'm assuming unless someone has a real explanation.
