Slow-Motion Formula D: Because Powerslides Are Even Cooler At 120 Frames Per Second

 Millen-slide.jpg

This was shot at the Irwindale, Calif. round of the Formula D series in 2011. And yesterday, after being beautifully edited and set to music, it was released on the internet for your viewing pleasure. We love any burning rubber. But it's even better when it happens while sliding sideways and when it's being shot in slow motion.

The video was OK, but the music sucked.

I was excited that you called it a Power Slide rather than Drifting. Maybe I'm old fashioned.

Pretty cool footage. Would have liked to see more closeups of the tires as they deformed and reacted during the slides.

That said, still have to say that while huge talent and skill is required to drift at this level (I can't do it, that's for sure), it still ain't a sport. It's an exhibition of talent, much like figure skating or gymnastics.
