American Stig Laps Top Gear USA Track in Hennessey ZR750 Corvette ZR1

stig_hennesseyzr1.jpg

What better way to promote your latest tuner package for the Corvette ZR1 than to get one of the fastest men (?) in America to drive it with commitment? And so John Hennessey coaxed the American Stig behind the wheel of HPE's ZR750 Corvette, which with a claimed 755 hp, a claimed 728 lb-ft of torque and enough Michelin Pilot Sport Cup rubber to handle all that, was quick enough to set a new lap record at the Top Gear USA test track.

An extended, higher-production-value cut of this hand-held footage is undoubtedly forthcoming when the new TG season starts back up on the History Channel next week.

Wow, do you think Hennessey actually paid for the rights to use Mellencamp's entire song in the video? Based upon the past history of this lowlife, I'd guess no. It's a shame this guy is even associated with cool GM products like the Vette and CTS-V. His stench contaminates the rest of the brand.

And BTW, $23k+ seems like a lot to pay for a 1 second/lap improvement over a standard ZR1. Seems to me like a pulley, intake, exhaust and tune ($5000) would get you pretty much to the same point.

IL, I fail to understand why you continue to give Hennessey free press without acknowledgement that there are concerns with how this company (and its founder) is running its business.
