Raise your hand if you remembered that the Ferrari Celica California still existed. Well, it does and Ferrari is ready to remind people of that with a new Handling Speciale Package that will debut at this year's Geneva Motor Show.
First, Ferrari cranks up the horsepower from 460 to 490 from the 4.3-liter V8 by way of new exhaust manifolds and new engine mapping. Torque is up to 373 from 357 and the curve has been modified to be higher across "engine's generous rev range." Next, Ferrari adds a helping of aluminum from its Scaglietti Centre of Excellence, the weight of the CHSP is down by 66 pounds. The normal California weighs in at 3,852 pounds.
On the handling side of this pack are new Magnetorheological dampers controlled by a computer that's 50% faster, stiffer springs and a new steering box with a 10-percent quicker ratio. There are also special colors, two-tone paint scheme (check that out after the jump). Pricing was not announced.
We'll have more from this one during the Geneva Motor Show next month.

It's not that it's a bad car, it's just Ferrari's red-headed step child.

Should have been left to Maserati, to be honest

I love it. Some guys prefer plus-size models.

I love how much hate people pile on the California. It gives me hope I'll be able to pick one up at a decent price in ten years from now. I can't pile onto the last car Ferrari will make with three pedals.
