Those of you who are into murdered-out SUVs but aren't keen on aftermarket parts can rest a little easier now that Jeep will be building a Stealth Edition Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The special edition truck features a platinum-chrome grill, black gloss 20-inch wheels, black gloss grille surround, headlamp bezels and lift-gate light bar. It will be available in this lovely all-black scheme, or a slightly less awesome Deep Cherry red.
According to Chrysler, this concept has "production intent" but for that, they'll need a name and that's where you come in. Suggest a name for the new version of the Grand Cherokee over at Jeep's Name My Ride website and you could win one of your very own. Keep in mind, though, that this is a brand that likes names like Nitro, Shock, Avenger and Viper. Surely there are some American Gladiator names they haven't used. Lace? Sunny? Titan? Thunder? Storm? Hawk? Rebel?

They could call it Black Dynamite, but I think that name is being used somewhere else.
If only I could remember where...

If Mercury hadn't already used it, "Marauder" would be good.

greenpony -
that's kind of how they keep more than one person picking a name, making it a little difficult to decide who actually wins it.

That approach to deciding who wins is inappropriate for this type of contest. Once the few dozen or so "best" names (heck, let's go overboard and say the *hundred* best names) have been chosen, nobody else has any chance, and they are forced into using lousy names or appending digits to their choice like yahoo.com email addresses (Nighthawk123, Dark Knight 7500, etc). A contest like this favors those who know about it early, and is better suited to relatively small populations of entrants.
Similar contests have been run online before, so it's not like this is a new idea. The fairest way to run such a contest with a large population of entrants is to let people enter whatever name they want, whether someone else entered it already or not, and then choose a random winner (or winners) from the pool of people who selected the final name. It also gives the marketers insight into what names were most popular, so they benefit as well.

It's a contest for a FREE Jeep. I don't see much fair or unfair about it. Because you ahve to earn it in the smallest way by getting a name in first doesn't exactly scream perjudice.
So you're saying that hundreds of people should be able to use Nighthawk@yahoo.com as their e-mail? How exactly does that work?
It sounds like you think people that show up late to the party should have the same chance as people that get in early. You're only aloud to do one name a day anyway.
And again, it's a free jeep. The absolute only thing you ahve to do is come up with a creative name and get it in early. For that, you could win a Jeep. Still not seeing how it's not fair.
