After taking the wraps off its "affordable exotic," Chevrolet proceeded to unveil its other show-stopper, the Code 130R concept. The big news here? Rear-wheel drive.
Unlike the Delta-platformed FWD Tru 140S, Chevrolet didn't mention what kind of architecture underpins the Code 130R coupe. We're guessing this means that the 140S is more of a true concept in the traditional sense. In other words, it looks good, but it's not anything more than a styling exercise.
For power, Chevrolet said it was meant to work with one of GM's small turbocharged engines and the new eAssist system seen in the various Chevy sedans. It'll help the 140S "balance turbocharged performance and fuel economy," says Chevrolet.

It's Chevy's version of the Mustang 2. The Camaro 2.

Nah. I do think it's a better execution of BMW's 135i which always struck me as a bit awkward.

Looks like Chevy's response to the FR-S, with Scion tC styling. I can't blame them for wanting to jump on that wagon, but I wouldn't bet on following through with an actual production model.

At first glance: This car looks like a 2003 Infiniti M45 crossed with an RX-8.
Not bad styling

A small RWD car, thank you GM. Yes, it's a little homely but that can be worked on. Now do you have the guts to build it? By the way, is this an all new platform, our simply a cobbled together foam and clay model? If the latter why bother?

I like it. Strange to say that about a GM but I like that greenhouse and the dimensions. It's what the 1 should have been. Now put an engine with over 250 HP in it... and ditch the stupid hybridy stuff.

I'm confused, the second two paragraphs talk about "140S is more of a true concept " and "It'll help the 140S "balance turbocharged performance ". Was that supposed to be 130R?
Whoa! This thing is unexpected, and definitely on the right track. When we bought our WRX we also compared a Cobalt SS. It was a really cool car, but it was wrong wheel drive. This would have solved that problem. From the front it looks cool, but it sits too high, and the rear half, ugh, looks like a BMW 1-series and the new (ugly) Scion-tC had an oops-baby.

The side windows and the back of the car remind me of the Kia Forte Koup. Overall it kinda looks like a toy to me...

@TURBO: I agree, reminds me of 135i. One point of contention, 1 series is an awkward ball of beauty. Nothing ugly about it. Im not a huge fan of this Chevy's rear windshield slop, kind of bubbly. Thats the tradeoff for headroom though.. Good effort by Chevy, nice to see they;re not just building pony cars.

I like the idea of a lightweight RWD vehicle, but I'll need to see htis one in person before deciding on the styling. The photos make it look like a cross between a Mazda RX-8 and a Trabant...

Why so much room between the B- and C-pillars? That section could be a quarter of what it is, maybe even an eighth. If this is a true roadster (nevermind the fact it's not a convertible), then there's no need to have ANY type of room behind the rear seats within the cabin space. The common complaint I hear about small roadsters is that people can't fit their golf clubs in the trunk. Chevy need to take advantage of this opportunity and shrink the greenhouse on the tail end and increase the size of the trunk. It'd help with the styling problems in the profile and it'd increase the functionality.

Looks like a Chevy 1-series to me, which would be a totally believable proposition with the introduction of the new small RWD chassis of the Cadillac ATS.
Interesting. I don't see a business case for building it with the Camaro in the lineup, unless they priced it in the low 20s and aimed for the FR-S. Hmmmmm. Another lightweight rear-drive option? Maybe my prayers ARE being heard, lol!

To my eye, the proportions are all off, and the details do nothing for me, either. deagle13's Trabant comment pretty well nails it. There's nothing about the design of this exterior that deserves to make it to production.

I like how they are targeting the 1 series. Overall the car looks very cool, with rally car proportions. But I do not like the mini-me Camaro tail lamps or the front grille.

Promising platform. Crappy styling. The latter is easy to fix.
Come on, GM, do something cool: build it.
