Kim Jong-Il may have died last week, but his funeral took place in 1976.
After a lifetime of decadence and luxury at the expense of his people, North Korea's Dear Leader was carted to his final resting place in a mid-70's Lincoln. I can think of worse ways to be carried away.

Keep in mind that North Koreans don't have cell phones, internet, or access to information outside the state-controlled media. Also remember that Kim Il Sung laid the foundation that the North Korean leader should be revered as something of a god. I believe this is a nation of people who honestly believe, to one degree or another, that their leader is a godlike "pharaoh" of sorts, and that their sorrow is, in general, genuine. The general populace just doesn't know any better.
That's not to say there aren't dissidents or people who are indifferent, but I think that these people feel genuine emotion at the loss of their "great leader".

So basically, they've been brainwashed and robbed of their life's potential by one of the many tyrants around the world. Kind of like many Americans.

He was a great leader to them. Our fear is we can't control him because he's too different, and may act erratically.
Same way the Japanese had their god-emperors. And look what they did to our ships! They were great leaders for the Japanese people too.

Nobody has mentioned how odd it is that the leader of a largely anti-American state was transported to his grave, as the entire world watched, in an absolutely unmistakeably American car. What gives?? I find this incredibly strange.

Ummm did you flunk history? Hirohito was mostly a figurehead by 1941 and his Admirals and Generals brought them into a war with us that resulted in almost total destruction of Japanese cities by regular and Atomic bombing.....how is that being a great leader?
Il has kept his people starving and freezing for decades now......another terrible leader destroying his people for his own ego.
I cant believe that so many know so little about history.

bodyblue,
It is in your victor's perspective that he is painted as evil, that Japan brought on the atomic bomb.
America created the atomic bomb, and used it. Japan had no part in this "atomic bombing", except inciting to be attacked with "something". Who knew it would be an "atomic" device; nobody knew what that is. "atomic", say what?
It is your history that these people are evil. Every anniversary, there'd be articles in the news about Japanese want to change their textbook to their perspective of victimization by these atomic tyrants. Then it'd get rejected for international relations reasons.
To a people, "starving for my country" is not being maltreated. Did cavemen complain they didn't have phone order pizza and their winters were harsh? It's normal, and happy, because you have to band together, socialize, and scrape up what you can.

Sorry but Japan was the aggressor in WWII and Kim Jong Il was a dictator. The staged outpouring of grief on tonights news was absurd in the extreme. You only have to look at the success of South Korea to see the mistreatment of the north. There is no reason they should have to "scrape up what they can " other then the giant ego of the dictator who is kept in power only buy a huge miltary. Question is now how long before it all falls apart.
The atomic bombs were dropped on Japan because there was no other way to end it at the time, the victims are the many countries they invaded.

Yep, you flunked history. Take some time and read about 1930's Japanese agression in China and the lead up to the attack on Pearl Harbor. Take some time and read about the Rape of Nanking and the testing of chemical and nerve agents on Chines civilians. Then slap yourself on the back of the head for posting the nonsense you did above.
Oh and the use of Atomic weapons saved the lives of millions of Japanese and Americans but not requiring the invasion on Japan. You must be VERY poorly educated.

....you dont seem to mind calling people foul names... Pot, meet kettle. So many get their panties in a twist when dis-agreed with that they take it personally. Above I was pretty rough on the guy because his complete lack of knowledge of the subject....he was coming across pretty strong too. Telling somebody they are "poorly educated" is nothing compared to calling someone an "arrogant prick", now is it? Opps I did not agree with you....there I go again.
Maybe the internet is not for you if you hate it so much.

You mean like any other car? I don't see anything wrong with this Lincoln. That's like saying "Too bad JFK got shot in a Lincoln". Before Lexus, there was Lincoln. To this day, A hearse is usually a Lincoln or Cadillac. Ubfortunately, Lincoln, unlike Cadillac, has deviated from a status symbol, specially now since they're doing away with the Town Car.
