2013 Dodge Dart Interior Teased Before Detroit Reveal

DG013_DT004.jpg

The Dodge Dart (formerly Hornet) will make its official debut at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show next month. Until then, though, we will have to make do with the spy shots and teaser images that Chrysler keeps teasing us with.

The latest batch of teaser images show the Dart's interior which looks pretty slick. In front of the driver we've got a traditional tachometer, gear indicator and fuel level indicator and a 7-inch TFT display with multiple models including nav and a speedo (pictured).

The center console is loaded with an 8.4-inch touchscreen running Chrysler's easy-to-use (though some complain that sport mode in SRT vehicles shouldn't be in the 'controls' tab) and fast UConnect system.

From what we can see, the interior looks expensive and cool, a feat achieved by very few small cars. We'll need to see the finished product to make a final judgment, though.

I have to admit. Those are some good shots.

OK, what does the base model's dash look like? I'm guessing these pics are from the $28k version of the Dart.

First picture, I was, OMG, that is way too tacky!

@mjrusso

According to reliable sources on Allpar.com. Even the base model will get the 7" TFT screen. The 8.4" screen will be optional with or without Nav. The base model will come standard with the same 4.5" touch screen that the Charger has, along with standard tilt/telescope steering wheel and 10 airbags. So to me it looks like some pretty good packaging. I look forward to some testing on the Dual Clutch 6 Speed.

New MOPAR interiors are pretty much either some of the best in class or right near the top. They have shown they can bring out some very nice stuff the past two years. Of course the usual suspects will try and bash them.....

That is a fantastic interior, even more so for a car in this price class and puts many more expensive cars to shame. Chrysler/Dodge are really turning it around with their interiors of late - though I really hate the Garmin deal they've struck. The graphics are way too simplified, it makes their GPS look like a fisher-price toy but with that one annoying exception they are putting out some impressive stuff

Nice but I'm still not bold over the Dart name. Hornet would've been a better name for it.

Looks impressive for a C segment car.

The GPS looks good but since when is the fuel gauge more important than an actual speedo?

If this instrument cluster was on a Hyundai, the fanboys would spontaneously combusting with joy...

Sell the sizzle - that's marketing. "Imported from Detroit." It's a "Hemi." *But not a 426 Hemi*

Wow, instead of pictures (or renderings) of a vehicle, we get a dashboard display. I mean, any more bling on today's vehicles, we may as well install an XBox or Playstation as well. Good grief - every secretary and college girl I see now STILL has a cell phone stuck in her ear, or the light has already turned green and she's still texting! I say - BS on all of that. Get your head back in the real game: getting to your destination safely and operating a motor vehicle - not just steering it between the lines. Dodge Dart - give me some power, handling, safety and reliability and I'll check you out when you hit the dealership.

i wouldnt mind just a nice guiletta, but i'm not gonna lie and say i dig this. hopefully they use lots of soft touch materials like in the newish charger.

granted, as nice as it looks, vw has been had an interior thats as nice as this on the golf and gti for several years now...but still, this is great that chrysler is stepping up their game.

It is kinda hard to believe that this is a C-segment car, isn't it? It's reportedly a compact that will be ever so slightly larger than the Cruze. Anyway, these teaser pix seem to hint at an awesome interior. I'll go so far as to say this is a must-see car that for many will be a must-have car. Much as I'd really like a new Charger or Challenger, this will likely replace my current daily driver. Definitely will want to see and test drive one of these.

Initially, the dash looks pretty impressive. What little we see of the turn signal stalk does hint that there may be some cheapness elsewhere, which is to be expected anyway. I definitely give Chrysler some kudos for turning their interiors around. The Charger/Magnum/300 interiors of a few years ago were dreadful.

Quite different from the '70 Dart I drove in high school!

mikey1978 says:

Very Nice! I must say Chrysler has been putting out some class leading interiors lately. If the exterior is as nice they'll have a huge hit on their hands in this class which they really need.

Looks sharp, but.. 'Currently playing' song in the driver's pod? Current speed limit sign in the car? Just another road disassociation device.

Totally diggin’ this dash … very interesting and ingenious!!!
Good comment sniperruff: “…when is the fuel gauge more important than an actual speedo?” I almost agree, but since I set my digital gauge on the Camaro and Charger and like that MUCH better than the analog (obscured where I place my steering wheel) I can read it anyway, I like this , if it were the tach…no. Speaking of tach. How kewl is that tach, analog with a digital look, love the sweep also, kind of like what Toyota should have done with theirs, only MUCH, MUCH better!
Couldn’t have said this better myself …
nefariousnige : “If this instrument cluster was on a Hyundai, the fanboys would spontaneously combusting with joy...”
Or a Toyota or a Mazda or Nissan or a … yes, fanboys would spontaneously combust!
herbie99: Sell the sizzle????? Is Chrysler the ONLY car manufacturer “Selling the sizzle”? Zoom Zoom? But isn’t that what ANY car company supposed to do?
A car will not sell on sizzle or bling alone, but I’m guessing that the Alph under pinning’s, multi-link suspension, optional engines for mileage and fun , mulit-speed (6 & 9 speed autos) and not to mention all the sizzle and bling of a quality, sophisticated, entry-level interior just isn’t ENOUGH for some people.
Unlike most here doubting anything offered by an American Car Company, even from Italy, I’ll give it a chance and check out the final product first Hahahaha…
J.M.O… I could be wrong.

dizzi says:

For the "digitally challenged" I noticed an anolog speedometer on the spy shots other page. Looks like an optional instument cluster but not too different in dash layout. Still looks great...

J.M.O... I could be wrong.
