We've seen spy photos of the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder but this teaser is the first official image we have of the new Pathfinder concept bound for the 2012 Detroit Auto Show.
The assumption on this next-gen Pathfinder is that it would switch to a unibody design instead of carrying on with the body-on-frame chassis it employs currently. The press release that came with this photo did nothing to refute that belief...
"The Nissan Pathfinder Concept, which is set for its world debut at the 2012 North American International Auto Show beginning on January 9th, takes all of Pathfinders traditional SUV hallmarks and wraps them in a new platform and dramatic new aerodynamic body." New platform? So much for it being D platform based like the Murano.
The release goes on to say that the Pathfinder concept will have 4-wheel drive and seating for seven with ample cargo room. The new Pathfinder will go on sale next fall. Sign up for updates (if that's your thing) here.

Well, if you want to be picky, taking the current Pathfinder off its old body-on-frame architecture and moving it to the D/Murano architecture is technically putting the nameplate on a new platform...

Throwback is right, the Infiniti presenter I spoke with at the LA auto said the new Pathfinder and JX would be based on the same platform, and both would be built in the U.S.

So the Pathfinder is going to become another minivan but without a sliding door?

dinobot666, it's what folks buy. crossovers/suvs are flying off dealer lots.

Better have terrain management as good as an Evoque.
