This should be shocking news for anyone who hasn't seen the internet in the past 12 hours, but Lexus will be bringing this stunner of a Sport Coupe to the 2012 Detroit Auto Show.
The new concept is "crafted from a clean sheet of paper at the request of Lexus headquarters in Japan, the LF-LC blends both high technology and organic shapes to connect the driver to the machine. The clean lines of the vehicle emphasize motion, creating a distinctive look for this futuristic sport coupe." said Mark Templin, Lexus group vice president and general manager.
The LF-LC was designed at Calty in Newport Beach.

I know its a concept but........why bother with the back seat, just make it a true two seater.

LF-Lame Coupe?

Clean sheet of paper? It just looks like an LF-A’s skin over a 2+2 chassis. Don’t get me wrong, it looks great (except for the angle used in the leaked photo) but isn’t it too close to the LF-A?
This plus the new GS’s nose seem to mark the end of L-Finesse, which is too bad. I thought it had more potential.

I like it! Lexus needs to build a replacement for the beloved SC; hard top convertible. The IS-C simply doesn't cut it. This is a luxury brand and it must have a convertible to anchor that niche portion of the market to compete against the BMWs and the Mercedes. This could be the plateform!!
louiswei says:

If LF-LC stands for LF-Lame Coupe then what does DBS stand for?
Dumb British Shit?

Enough with the Lexus concepts already. Will Toyota just give us a new Supra already!
cr_driver says:

Funny louis, hahaha.
But you know what, it is know aston-dbs has some beef against Lexus as seen on another recent thread, where he wrote one of the most most ancient and common things to say against it, calling Lexus cars just overpriced toyotas. So take it from who it comes. Thou I might add he should say bland and boring all the time too, you know, so the joke it is actually complete haha.
Just get used to it.

@ cr_driver,
I don't know what's aston_dbs beef against Lexus but apparently the Aston Martin CEO has respect to Lexus and vice versa for Akio Toyoda:
http://www.autoblog.com/2011/11/02/aston-martin-toyota-ceos-swap-race-cars-at-the-nurburgring/
Oh and last I ckecked, didn't Aston Martin take the Scion iQ and turned it into an uber expensive city car?
hooklyn says:

You guys seem to think lower-level LF-A whereas I am thinking Lexus's version of the GT-86...
Likely to compete against the XK and 6-Serier or E-Class Coupe I suppose.
ms3hothatch says:

Finally- a cohesive design utilizing the new corporate grill. Kinda looks like a Braun shaver, but I like it!
louiswei says:
11:38 AM, 12/21/11
From a reliable source: Lexus is not getting an 86.
tempesting says:
11:40 AM, 12/21/11
It looks to be either stretched ToyoBaru platform or one from LFA
If this hits the production, I'd say about 80~100k GT (a little more than where SC used to be)
gtrguy2012 says:
11:46 AM, 12/21/11
This looks to be bigger than a Lexus version of a FT-86. It is a striking concept though, It should make a good competitor to the E-class coupe, 3 series.

Some of the comments here just plain stupid....you empty brain so call die hard fanatics complaining about a concept car styling....too closed to the LFA..blah lexus running out of ideas... fighting pathetically ....Lord Knows how many version we'll see...and if it looks like and LFA it's a beautiful voiture..what's the big deal..i never seen a BIMMER that did not resemble the other or a BENZ or An Aston martin, Or a Jag....yeah they are all Family! the other day i almost took a 5 serie for a 7 serie..and?
i love my LS400! I had my nightmares with 7 series and S calsses and Jags....Lord have mercy.
bombonyou says:

No, this car is not stunning. Instead, like nearly all Lexus designs, it is a hodgepodge of unrelated slashes, lines, gashes, and curves. Yes, the proportions are sexy. But that is where the appeal ends. The design is shit.
alpha01 says:
12:47 PM, 12/21/11
@bombonyou - I do think it is stunning, and wish I was going to the Detroit show to see it in the flesh. As context, have you seen the new Mercedes SL class? WOOF.

Why are u so mean "aston_dbs"? This only proves that you are such a narrow hearted/minded person with low IQ and EQ who thinks he knows car! Can't you say something nice? It is people like you who causes trouble.
I love both Aston Martin Vantage and the LF-A.
aston_dbs says:

@greedyamerican:
Wow... seriously?
1. I guess these days, you are not allowed to have an opinion anymore? I DON'T comment on each of the other comments that I don't like... Why? Who cares? I don't know them; they are free to have their own opinion.
2. I have and wrote a COMMENT about a CAR... An automobile! NOT your religion, your job, your mother or your sister. So, unless you are the ONE who ACTUALLY DESIGN this car, please just take a chill pill.
3. My father own a pre-owned center business with his close friend (among his many other businesses) since the 80s; I've been involved in it since high school. So, yeah, I know NOTHING whatsoever about cars... just generating comments out of thin air and perhaps out of my arse...
Kudos to the 'real' car experts out there who 'reads IL everyday'!
So, grow up. I've said it before, it's just a car... defending it more than necessary is just pathetic...
bonzjr says:

I like it. A lot.
Reminds me a little (rear pillar/glass) of the Renault Alpine GTA of the late 1980s. I loved that car when I was a kid. I was a weird kid.
sigmabody says:

"rides on the LFA platform"... do you even understand what a concept car is? It's a concept; it doesn't ride on anything but hopes, dreams, and some design studio's conception of what a cool Lexus might look like. The fact that it kinda resembles a LFA is probably a nod to the idea that the LFA might have been a desirable car, if Lexus had priced it inside the stratosphere.
As a concept, I think it looks neat. At this point, though, it makes me more disappointed with Lexus than interested; even if they built it, nobody would be able to afford it.

j2j says:

Not bad, basically looks like an LF-A with the new pinched/spindle grill design a la the new GS that is making its way throughout the lineup.
The grill has a less awkward shape and this looks better than either the LF-A or the GS.

@alpha01 I agree, the SL is a mess. From this angle, the LF-LC is ok. But the snout, including that crazy ass grille and headlight tornado ... I can't accept it.

Won't do as "well" as the LFA. Considering that the LFA was a complete sales flop, why bother with this thing? Lexus need to concede the sports car marker to Corvette.
Be Proud. Buy American.

I like it, it's a very emotional design. In the photo above, the headlights and tail lights appear to be crying. I also love the headlight's placement in the air intake, to me it says function over form.

digitalzombie says:

@louiswei
... It will not be on the LFA platform. The LFA platform doesn't make money and it takes forever to weave the carbonfiber body so it couldn't be mass produce. The LFA is also a two seaters.
Nothing about your comment on LFA platform makes any logical sense AT ALL.
