Video: Corvette Daytona Prototype Tests at Daytona

corvettedaytona_vid.jpg

You'll recall that the Chevrolet Corvette Daytona Prototype was slated to test at Daytona in advance of its January debut at the Grand Am-series Rolex 24 at Daytona, and now the footage from that day is up on YouTube.

You can learn about the car in the official Grand Am video after the jump, but the spectator-shot vids that follow it give a better idea of how the Corvette racecar sounds nearer to wide-open throttle.

Why diddint they use the original greenhouse for the Corvette? Or was this never a Corvette to begin with?

This was never a Corvette to begin with. It is the new generation (well, sorta. More like a mid-cycle refresh) of Daytona Prototype. Along with narrowing the greenhouse Grand-Am also hoped to offer more production-based body work (which seems redundant given the tube-frame GT cars posing as production based) and GM was the first taker going with Corvette-like bodywork. So far it looks like everyone else is going with chassis-builder specific body kits.
