Our spy photographers are doing double duty today catching both the 2013 Ford Mustang GT and the 2013 Ford Mustang V6 testing in minimal camo. The triangles break up the finer details, but the thin adhesive wrap leaves little to the imagination.
The most striking new detail is the front of the GT. Gone are the round foglamps and center-mounted pony. The fogs have moved down and outboard while the horse has moved onto a red, white and blue badge off to the driver's side of the grille. The headlights, too have been tweaked with some LED light piping. We've also got a GT500-inspired lip spoiler and grille opening. Out back we've got a new pedestal-mounted wing and a slightly revised bumper. We say ditch that wing and throw on the GT500s.
The V6 car (the one without tape over a 5.0 badge in the photos) gets a similar front treatment but with a smaller lip and no fogs. It does, however, get a chrome ring around the grille that makes it look like a last-gen Challenger. That better bet an option.

Meh. I prefer the grill-mounted fogs and center pony.

They're monkeying with the tail lights again. If it ain't broke...

Strictly evolutionary, but that's not a bad thing as far as I'm concerned.

They better not add Myford Touch. All that needs changing is the stupid taillight blinker

@rollk The sequential taillights? They're awesome.
This is just a mild refresh before the big 2015 model year/early 2014 release for the 50th anniversary - that one needs to be huge, as Mustang sales keep declining and are behind the Camaro.

I'm putting my money on that being a GT/CS model as opposed to a GT. It has the same pedestal spoiler, side scooped, and rear valence/diffuser as the 2011 and 2012 GT/CS. I bet the 2013 GT retains the grille mounted fogs.

The pedestal wing and new "foglight" locations are no good, but the new badge and headlights are nice.

There is nothing new about the grill, foglights, or pedestal spoiler as they are all currently on the GT/CS. You can even see through the tap on the 'fuel fill' badge the pony logo rather than the GT emblem, which indicates a CS also. The chin spoiler is off of the BOSS.

@cantdrive92: I agree...I doubt very much that this grill and foglight combo will be the standard, since it's so similar to the current California Special.
I don't know, I take this with a grain of salt. There's not much time until the LA Auto Show, so I'll withhold any judgements until then. I don't think these pictures are really what the 2013 will look like.

+1 bz101
I see nothing new in those photos since I see all of those features (with the exception of the spoiler) on my roommate's '12 V6 Mustang with the Mustang Club of America Package. At best, the only other thing that might be different is the wheel style, since his also has the Performance Package that comes with the 19's.

One thing that is new is the painted rocker panels.

All I want is a telescoping steering wheel and REAR CURTAIN AIRBAGS. And better headrests.
and yeah it's a california special, which still doesn't have brembos if his car is representative.

"rear spoiler delete"...best option on the board. Keep it Ford.

Love the refreshed headlights.
Really looking forward to the L.A. autoshow.

great to see annual grille and taillight changes from ford, now they have also promised to update their cars every three years with an all-new or reskinned car designs. better than in the past, keeping one car shape for ten years with not even a badge change. take a look at the 60s and70s where cars came in for big style changes each year.

Ford has pulled off with the Mustang as what Honda didn't with the new Civic (no, I'm not comparing the two).
This is what a proper "refresh" should look like. This has the same profile as the previous one but those little changes in the exterior made it look like something new.
Hope the upgrade isn't cosmetic only and I hope they won't do any ecoboosting with this.

Let me know when they bring the suspension up to current standards. The car is already good, an IRS will make it great.

love the wheels, the power, the torque, the durability
hate the size (too big), the steering feel (numb), the suspenssion (bumpy)

Looks nearly the same. How is this even news?
Hilarious how Ford put camo paint on it in an effort to trick people into thinking it's not a Mustang.

The front of the 2013 GT is supposed to take styling cues from the current GT 500. I don't know if the V6 will also. Since this is a test mule, I'm sure that the scoops, wing, etc, are there for additional camo. Hopefully, they will be an option with the spoiler delete still intact. If it's not functional, I don't want it.
