Official: Full Size Cadillac XTS Image Released

 12GCXT22020.jpg

As they say, you can't unring a bell. So when Cadillac accidentally slipped images of the all-new XTS luxury sedan onto their homepage yesterday, it was only a matter of time before they gave in and provided the world with an official shot.

And here that shot is in all its hi-res glory. Sure, it's the same as the one they had online, except this one's bigger. Click for enlarged version and stay tuned for more pics of the real thing when we see it on Wednesday at Cadillac's press conference at the LA Auto Show.

How come the front sonar sensors are only on the right side of the front bumper, but not on the left?

weird...

It may come with an automatic parking system. Most parallel parking in the U.S are on the right.
Just a guess, or it may be the bad angle prevents you from seeing the left side.

It's still looks like an Avalon in the back and badly proportioned. Maybe it's the angle.

It's all about the space.
Give it a good interior and powertrain, and that should be plenty.

I see it already. People will take one look at this picture and say......"this is crap" "This is just a buick Lacrosse" "how does cadillac/GM expect this to compete with the S-class" blah...blah...blah. Before anyone gets too bent out of shape. Remeber, this car is a stop gap until Cadillac builds a true flagship. This car will staisfy many of the people who where DTS and STS customers, plus maybe draw a few new ones.

I'm not digging the shape. I don't mind a car that is/looks big, but the proportions on this one make me think humpback whale or something. Platform constraints maybe, but unfortunate nonetheless.

It does look rather awkward.

"Remeber, this car is a stop gap until Cadillac builds a true flagship."

I'm not sure how that's any excuse. This is a brand-new model and will be costing upwards of $40,000. Do you think someone actually buying this car with their hard-earned money wants to hear they're getting a "stop gap until GM builds the real thing"?

Meh. I would just like to see it be RWD to actually compete with true luxury cars. I mean even LEXUS does RWD for their flagship...jeez.

The people who will buy this car are unlikely to frequent this forum but they do exist.

Also, this is not a stop-gap S/7 fighter. It's a DTS replacement for classic Cadillac buyers with no direct counterpart in the BMW or MB stables.

Early rumors had this being AWD. Hope that's true.

I am kind of surprised...I rather like it. It sure as hell looks nicer than any 7 series (I know not in the same league dynamic wise) but just in looks it blows anything BMW away. I like it better than the MK whatever Lincoln is calling its biggest car these days as well.......I also like it better than the new 300.

1. I'm going to go on a limb and say that this will either look better in person, or that this is an unflattering shot. The XTS design concept back in 2009 looked good, and the photo above bears a striking resemblance to it.

2. I was under the impressions that this was a stop gap STS replacement (and an enlarged DTS replacement), until Cadillac can get around to building a RWD competitor to the S/7/A8/LS.

The design may be rather evolutionary, yet I find it attractive and even good-looking. I think it will be fine for it's intended market.

hondacura4 says:

This is not a flagship as it simply replaces the DTS/STS in the lineup. A true flagship will debut at a later date.

I know why Cadillac wants this model in the lineup as it generates a lot of profits but it seems out of place given Cadillac's more sporting aspirations.
