We already know that the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe is getting an update. We've seen it before. That previous photo was an unofficial cell-phone shot while this one is as official as we're likely to see before the real announcement.
This photo is also from a slightly less flattering angle. Does a Charger hood and Veloster mouth really help this car? Compare this, the last leak and the current car after the jump.
**Update: Apparently this is not a leak but a very good photoshop. I should've looked closer at some of the pixels. I have seen quite a few photoshops in my time. **

The previous genesis looked a lot liked a refreshed tiburon (very bad), this pulls it away from that in a good way. Its for sure less feminine. Now maybe every busted hooker in my town will not feel the need to buy one up!

if the supercharged V6 finds it way under the hood i'm sold! It might not be fantastic looking, but it's miles better than the old one. The old one only looked good in black, otherwise it looks dainty.

Agreed on the less girl look, but the official picture makes it look bad. Pretty neat thou I'd probably buy it

The front fascia wasn't the problem; it's the window "dip" that interrupts the beltline that needs to go.

To my eyes, it's an improvement. I liked every bit of the design of the current model *except* the front end. Those oddly angled headlights and tiny little plastic grille always made it look cheap to me. This new front end actually has some substance to it. Not including the gimmicky LED running lights, mind.

Yup, that Sciotaburu BRZ86FT sure is godawful relative to the competition!

Too much going on at the front. Also, the grille area reminds me of the Sonata Hybrid, which is not a good thing in my opinion...

I think the new nose is much better looking. The current one is not ugly, but it is generic. This one is a bit more modern and agressive without being over the top.
I'm a fan.

Original front end looks droopy or half melted. New look is more aggressive with a "look at me, I've driven so fast I began to pull the sheet metal away from the grille just like the skin on Jeremy Clarkson's face in a slightly stiff breeze" appearance.

To my eyes that's a major leap forward from the current car's look.
Reminds me too much of the staid Jag coupe though.

On a somewhat related note, I'm very surprised at how close the "V6 Supercharged vs. V8" poll is.

I'm the only one who thinks the older looks better? Get that Elantra face outta here!

1. It will now have the Hyundai front. Which is good.
2. The V6 should be lighter. And that is good also.
3. How soon before Kia gets something like this? Aren't the two companies almost in lockstep with the newer models?

Great. More fake vents and plastic.

It's more aggressive but a little off in terms of front end looks. This looks better up front:

Veloster is a little better up front than this new Genesis refresh.. particularly I think the shape of the grill is a better match for the headlamps (balances out the upturned headlamps because it's downturned) and it has a less intrusive bumper so the intake area is cleaner.

I like the looks of the redesign. Very aggressive; makes the old version look kinda feminine...

EWWWW, completely agree that it looks too much like sonata hybrid/accent... In a very bad way! It looks GREAT if grill is covered tho

Who said this looks good? Get an eye operation quick. I don't know who's leading the design of this car, but he needs to be fired.
jscion says:

The redesigned front end ruins the car. There's something about it that makes it less sculpted and more like just a coupe version of a family sedan. The Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger are all much sportier looking than this.

I think the S/C V6 would be better. It would be lighter and more easily tune-able. Possibly better fuel economy as well. a V6-T would be even better but i dont think thats an option.

I must be in the minority here who think Hyundai's current front fascias are friggin' FUGLY.
I was never a fan of the Genesis coupe's current fascia, but grafting the family face onto it just made it TEN TIMES WORSE. So many gratuitous lines, angles and creases that make it look like someone at Hyundai just couldn't put down the Wacom tablet at the right time.
actualsize says:

I don't think I like Hyundai's new mouth-full-of-braces look. In my head I'm hearing a Butthead-esque "Huh huh huh" chuckle from the thing.
It was OK on the Veloster, which is supposed to be funky anyway, but I'm not feeling it across the lineup.

Nice job Hyundai. I like the Trapezoidal Front Grill. It really does make it look more menacing and the older model looks "dainty" by comparison. Keep up the good work.
lolxd says:

This looks a lot better than the old one but I'm not digging that blacked out part of the front end and that awkward shaped side window never looked good to begin with.
Also, the current Genesis sedan grill has to go. Too cheap looking especially compared to the one found in the Equus.
boobylortez says:

The Genesis sedan is the only Hyundai I'd buy.
stingray454 says:

Face lifted? Or face busted? I think more of the latter.
More aggressive, yes, but not attractive. It's like Hyundai is taking a page out of Mitsubishi's last playbook: the Lancer has an "aggressive" front end, but it's painfully ugly at the same time. Didn't work well for Mitsubishi: sales are in the tank, and now they want to produce even uglier electric cars. Barf.
dubfun says:

Yuk. Reminds me of the ugly front end on the Veloster. Hyundai is moving in the wrong direction with the styling of the Genesis.
