European Correspondant Alistair Weaver is in our neck of the woods this week for the 2011 LA Auto Show. After sampling from the generous Edmunds HQ coffee bar and laughing at our colonial accents, he hit the nearby Santa Monica beach to drive the Land Rover DC100 Concept.
Teaser: What, did you expect an Alistair video to not have a babe in it?

I think the Brits talk funny. Watching Top Gear, I've since learned "on they're talking about aluminum. Android autocorrect suggested aluminium (I presume that's the UK version)

Love the sound of the V8. I am intrigued by this vehicle, looking forward to seeing where they take the design. This will be on my must see list at the NY Show in the Spring.

I score a "9" for the blonde and a solid "2" for the Land Rover... God that thing is ugly, and that silly color (with coordinated rims) isn't doing it any favors.

Seeing how English originated from England, I think we should stop being so self-centered and admit it is us who speak with an accent.

Speaking as an Englishman from west London, my accent is as distinct from east, south and central London, and also is as distinct from 1000 other places in Britain (try googling Rab C. Nesbitt to see what I mean). Having worked with GM in the past I am used to a variety of english accents from all corners of the world, and don't have an opinion on any of them, they are just different and sometimes charming. By the way keep up the good work on straightline, it is where I get my main fix on the US car scene. And yes '9' for blonde, '4' for Land Rover and '4' for the guy with the funny accent

I don't think human stomachs are supposed to be that flat. But...

I don't think his name sounds sufficiently English. Perhaps a "Sir Nigel Earl of Cambridge" moniker would spice things up a bit.

Is this James' student then, cutting classes for the beach?

For Gosh sakes Alistair, visit a tanning bed before you bring that pale, pommy complexion to the beach.
In my opinion Alistair does not really have an accent associated with a specific
geographic location in England it is more of a Mid-Atlantic broadcast idiom.

I see what happened here. Land Rover put all this cool technology into the DC100 to make up for its hideous appearance. Insideline did the same thing for this lackluster video, and put a bikini babe in it.
