2011 Tokyo Auto Show: The Chrysler New Yorker Lives On in Tokyo

fs-hybrid-f34.jpg

The Tokyo show is known for its outlandish concepts, but this one takes the cake this year. It's officially known as the FS Hybrid Concept, but its resemblance to a slightly modernized Chrysler from the late 80s is what makes it an eye catcher. There was no real information on the car other than a sign that implied it was in fact a hybrid and could seat 5 people. Guess they're still working out pricing for the "soft top" option.

It almost has an understated cool. I think maybe it has a few too many exterior details (yeah I know...), but with a bit of tweaking could be like the classic-modern-monochrome-minimalistic cars from the recent movie "In Time".

I love it. The hybrid part is Meh but with a dentistry v6 or hemi would be an awesome big car. Wonder if this will be caddy's equaas competitor.

80's Chrysler?
Styling is obviosuly based on the Toyota Century.

ag4 has it right on; the styling looks like a more modern Toyota Century. Looks a bit small to be a new Century tho, and it's still too early to remodel the Century...

I had a late 80s NYer, and see no resemblance whatsoever. I do agree with the Toyota Century resemblance, though. Nice car.

I had a 1986 Chrysler New Yorker; I see a vague resemblance here. But, how about a snazzy Imperial?

I could totally get behind this. Like maxwellhere said, a little less concept-car chrome, and perhaps with slightly smaller headlights and slightly wider taillights, this could be really cool. Understatement is so underrated.

I see a passing resemblance to the 6000SUX from Robocop.
