One of the original 16 Hot Wheels was a 1967 Chevy Camaro with Spectraflame paint, and this week at SEMA, there's a modern Camaro done up as an homage to the original, non-drivable 1:64 scale car. This video gives you a little behind-the-scenes on the process of painting the SEMA car, which stopped Magrath in his tracks last night.
Chevrolet has no plans for a production run of the life-size 2011 Camaro Hot Wheels concept, but Mattel, which has slightly fewer cost considerations, is doing a limited-edition run of 1:64 versions.

Erin, I'm willing to bet dinner they will do a "limited edition" version. There will be at least 20 people who will ask Chevrolet to do it and they will say "Due to overwhelming customer request..."

The video cannot convey the true brightness and reflective qualities of the paint. In person, it looks almost like a bright green chrome. I can't see this ever making it to production because every minor flaw will be magnified.

That looks amazing. It might be blinding to drive on a sunny day, but for a show car or a weekend toy, that paint is freeking sweet.

Almost every car in the SEMA blogs looks like a Hot Wheels car! The COPO Camaro is my favorite so far, but who could resist this green Camaro? @csubbowtie - you're right, the finish would be blinding
