BMW made the most out of the i8's upcoming role in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol by trotting out Tom Cruise co-star Paula Patton for its press conference. She was quite charmed by the futuristic-looking hybrid sports car despite having to share the experience with a level 7 Operating Thetan.
New BMW CEO Ludvig Willisch made sure to point out that the i8 is more than just a one-off movie car. He reiterated BMW's commitment to getting a production i8 on the road by 2014. For a car that's said to offer the performance of an M3 and up to 78 mpg, that's a pretty tall order.

This is supposed to be a Diesel-Electric Hybrid AWD sports car--I hope BMW doesn't mess this up on the way to the production vehicle...

OK, now I will admit I am a big BMW fan. that being said, if the production version looks anything like this concept and actually delivers what they are saying it will, then the future indeed looks bright :)
