Ford picked my favorite color combo for the GT500 display car at the L.A. Auto Show: Grabber Blue with black stripes.
The whole 650-horsepower 5.8-liter V8 moving 3,800 pounds doesn't hurt either. When we tested the 2011 GT500 against the 2012 Boss, 2011 GT and a 2011 V6, our driver said that "driving the Shelby quickly is work. It's fast and it's fun and it doesn't truly make any missteps, but it's the most work in the group. And with a 1:25.6 lap time, it's also the quickest." 100 more horsepower should make it more work, more fun, and more fast.
I believe "WANT!" applies here.

Cool yes, but I would prefer a standard Boss 302 in red with the Recaro package.

Must. Hear. Engine.
75% of Mustang lust is the engine burble. I *need* to hear it.

I'm not a big fan of the grabber blue, but it looks pretty good in GT500 guise. Considering the performance intentions of this package, I'm a little surprised to see the glass roof, however. While I like the glass roof option on the GT, I think a carbon fiber roof or even traditional steel makes more sense in this application.

hotrodw-
I agree with you about the glass roof, which is adding both weight and raising center of gravity. However the Shelby is obviously marketed as both performance and luxury. Consider that it offers the glass roof, leather, foglights, HID headlights and the Shaker stereo, none of which are offered on the 2011 Boss 302.

Josh Jacquot would agree with you there. This car is way more my speed.

Rear tire size?? It is going to need more than 285 wide to put all that power down

The price isn't given, but it's got to be a lot lower than any other sports car with that kind of power.

I know this heresy, but I'd love to see the GT500 in AWD. It could put all those horsies to good work instead of making expensive smoke. AND the ugly beast made by Nissan whose name shall not be spoken, would become moot.

Interior doesn't look too "upmarket" to me considering the price tag but then again, the competition sucks in that segment. The Mustang's is bearable.
Performance though is adequate enough. 650HP? could the Live rear axle really handle that especially on the corners?
Anyone wouldn't care though. This thing is meant to be driven on a drag strip. The track work would be done by the Boss versions.
Just give me a 2011 Mustang GT and I'm satisfied.
