2011 L.A. Auto Show: 2013 Chevy Camaro ZL1 Convertible

 IMG_0288.JPG

We already knew about the 2013 Chevy Camaro ZL1 Convertible. We knew it would carry the same 580-horsepower supercharged LSA V8 as the coupe. That it would have additional structural bits (strut tower brace, transmission support brace, underbody tunnel brace, front X brace and rear V brace) to keep the 556 pound-feet of torque from twisting the thing into a knot. We knew it would have magnetic ride control. We knew it would go on sale in late 2012 as a 2013 model.

Now we know what it looks like in person.

No, it didn't do burnouts on stage, it just came out surprisingly quickly and had some traction issues when trying to stop before shooting off the stage and killing a bunch of photographers. (OK, that's an extreme overstatement. It came out quickly and locked 'em up a bit, but there was no real danger.)

Beautiful until I saw the dashboard, my god that is the ugliest thing I have ever seen. Really if they can fix that, this car would almost be perfect (looking).

I think the dashboard is fine, but the hood is hideous.

580ho...how quaint.

I like that dashboard better than the one the rest of the lineup uses; this one at least has something happening.

The hood looks a little silly, but it's not too bad overall. The amount of lights on the front is a bit excessive though.

Wow! Totally awesome. What a car. And a convertible no less. I am impressed. A real 'stang slayer.

Chevy made a great move with this one. Cool looks and good performance too. I'm certain this will blow the doors off a lot of 'stangs and Challengers. Now it won't beat a ZR1 around Nürburgring, but it is a cool car. However, personally I like the performance and handling of my ZR1 better. But for a ride in a convertible, I may have to add one to my garage.

It's good to see little bro grow up. Chevy Runs Deep.

Hey ZR1 man...you did hear the Shelby now has over 600HP right?

BB, you do realize zr1man is a GM posting robot beta test, right?
