When the news broke yesterday that the 2012 Chevy Camaro ZL1 lapped the Nurburgring in a blistering 7:41.27, the reaction was a mix of surprise, envy and enthusiasm. Oh, and disbelief. In this age of "vid or it didn't happen," nobody' satisfied until we see the footage and even then, we'll be subjected to weeks of tire / fuel / tune / chipped / whatever discussions.
And now for your scrutiny / enjoyment, here's the video of the 2012 Camaro ZL1 lapping the 'ring! While we're here, let's just take a minute to look at the speed listed above: 172 MPH. In a (relatively) stock, 4,200-lb Chevy Camaro. On a course that has turns!

Not Lexus-fast, but a pretty good hurl for a fat girl!
4200 lbs?
Have a salad, wil ya? Put the fork down!

You can tell on the back straight it has the aerodynamics of a brick, but mad respect
It has a stick shift, and it's kickin' it old school!

Just before the final straightaway, what do the blurred out signs say?

It's also not Lexus-price... >.>
Loved watching that video! Now I wish someone would take the Mustang to the 'Ring! LOL

Just 5 years ago, you wouldn't imagine anyone saying "Camaro" and "Nurburgring" in the same sentence. That in itself is a significant achievement.
Still, not a fan of the periscope-inspired interior.

saxdogg,
The sign is an advertisement for the Audi R8 V10.
