Surfboard Designer Crashes Aston Martin Rapide, Blames "Skid Button"

 Aston Martin Crash.jpg

If you think this is the "skid button" or the "no control on the rear wheels" button like Roberto Ricci -- professional surfboard designer -- does, you should probably stay out of an Aston Martin Rapide.

If, however, you do decide to get into a Rapide and understeer it into a guard rail so hard you take the wheel off, don't blame the button.

For crash footage, follow the jump, you've never seen someone so cheery after narfing $200K worth of Aston. For track tested footage of a 2011 Aston Martin Rapide where we push the "no control on the rear wheels" button and manage not to crash, click here.

You're terribly mistaken if anyone even sits in a $200k car without full insurance.

@sniperruff, some don't actually. Usually insurance on cars like that are so high you are better off giving a chunk of money to a third party holder (your insurance maximums) to pay out in the case of a crash. If you have the money to afford a $200k car you should have enough money for a replacement.

That, is the definition of "insurance". You pay a fee for the covered item to be replaced in case of accidents.

This is why we have to have so many government mandated saftey controls in cars nowadys, like stability control that can't be completely turned off for people like this guy.

The only time I use the "no control button" is in the snow. And for launch control of course.

@jlh3: All you need to do is pull the fuse.

That was not an "accident".

That was a moron at the wheel.
