MSN Cars is reporting that "inside sources" in England saw a Range Rover Evoque delivered to Pinewood Studios this week. As that is the traditional production home of the James Bond franchise, people immediately put two and two together and decided that the Evoque will be featured in next year's new James Bond movie likely to be titled "Skyfall."
It also makes logical sense as Jaguar/Land Rover have been featured in Bond films (usually just as background cars) since 2001's "Die Another Day." That's when the brands were a part of Ford, but then Aston Martin was as well. They're also, you know, British.
Frankly, I wouldn't worry about Mr. Craig driving around in Posh Spice's car. I'll put good money on the Evoque simply having a not-too-subtle product placement in the background, or maybe being briefly driven by some doomed beauty for 13 seconds. Heck, the last time Bond drove a Range Rover, he backed a Sport into a row of parked cars to create a distraction in "Casino Royale."
However, since you can only believe 2 percent of the James Bond rumors coming out of England, this could be much ado about nothing. Maybe Pinewood's vice president of overhead lighting or whatever bought an Evoque and got it delivered.
UPDATE: I have been shamed as resident James Bond expert. Bond drove a Range Rover Sport in "Quantum of Solace." Damn it.
