By now, we've driven Mazda's new SkyActiv drivetrain technology a number of times. Here's what we said last time, "As for me, ever since this drive, I've been fantasizing about a Skyactiv-D-equipped MX-5. If that doesn't tell you that Mazda's on the right track with this Skyactiv stuff, nothing will. "
Yeah, we're fantasizing about a diesel in a roadster. We're 'that guy.' Well, that and the SkyActiv engines, despite being fuel efficient, aren't focused solely on fuel economy, they're made by Mazda after all and Mazda still, thankfully, has its head on correctly.
And if you don't believe us, here's an ad for Mazda's SkyActiv made by Mazda.

I see what you did here.
In exchange for the CX-5 preview, you regurgitate an ad for their new engine tech. I nearly choked on the copious amounts of marketing cliches:
Kids holding hands running in a circle?
Hip young folk laughing and waving their arms in celebration of the balance between ecology and performance?
Determined driver with furrowed brow mashing the throttle towards the next apex?
All this set to a poor man's Avatar soundtrack?

All those National Geographic specials and such, I have never seen a penguin in flight.
What's next, flying pigs?

That ad seems a bit overdone.
What's it about again?

Flying Penguin Fail! Steve Irwin would say Mazda is off their rocker.
Everything else just looked like cool CG work with concept cars and engine animations.

The actually said nothing about "skyactiv" technology. What was the point of this ad?
kain is right. This was stupid and pointless.

If Mazda makes a Miata version of the Shinari and puts an aluminum block diesel in it, I will absolutely buy one. Torque is fun.
I guess I am "that guy" too.
