Automotive App of the Week: Car Recalls

  Car recalls suck, and about the only thing that sucks more is staying on top of them, especially if you bought the vehicle used and it's not registered via a dealer. For less organized car owners -- and those who aren't constantly checking online car-recall resources -- there's the 99-cent Car Recalls iPhone app.

It lets you search recalls going back to 1950 and even set up to receive alerts if a recall is issued in the future for your ride. While we found in a review of the app that it provides a simple and helpful way to find out about recalls, it falls short on informing users on whom to contact in the event of a recall, what the consequences could be if you don't take care of the issue and where to go for corrective action.
