It was no secret that Land Rover was unveiling a concept in Frankfurt for its future Defender, but the second Defender concept that pulled out onto the show stand was a surprise.
The second concept, called the DC100 Sport, is essentially the same as the DC100, minus its roof.

Just great. I was hoping the new version would be good and lower the comically high resale of the Defender, but this horrible thing will probably double Defender prices. I'm pouring out my tea, the Brits and Indians really messed this up.

It kinda looks like a smaller FJ Cruiser but with much better visibility. A good thing.
But as a Defender replacement? Awful.
LR should see how well Jeep is doing with its Wrangler, as base it development of the Defender on that.

Coming from a guy who would choose a Wrangler over a Defender 90 every time, I'm completely sold on this new DC100 Hardtop. It's new and edgy looking while still having that instantly recognizable Defender look. I'm hoping they keep the weight around 4000 lbs. and put at least the 370 HP V8 from the LR4 in it, if not the 500 HP supercharged version from the Range Rover Sport. Well done Land Rover.
