Although our spy photographers have caught Jaguar engineers testing the production version of the company's new sports car several times, Jag will not admit that the C-X16 two-seater is a go. Instead Jag will drag the concept version of the Cayman fighter to more auto shows, including Los Angeles in November, to "gauge reaction."
But...
Jag's Design God Ian Callum admits this ruse won't go on too long.
According to Callum, "A decision on the C-X16's production future will be made early in the new year."
Translation: Jag will announce that it will build the hybrid sports car at the Geneva auto show in March. Why? Because that's the show where Jag debuted the E-Type way back in 1961.
By the way, Callum also said this of his new concept, "If we do the C-X16, clearly we would have to consider doing a convertible." He then added the fact that more than 50 percent of Jag XK sales are convertibles.
Translation: The new two-seat Jag sports car will see production as a coupe and a drop top.

I need to see this car in person. The pictures make the car seem stubby and oddly proportioned.

I agree.

Oddly proportioned? The overhangs are in balance, the stance is nice, wide and aggressive. All the design elements and lines of the car are cohesive and makes sense. I like it!

Looks great, just doesn't look like a jaguar.

I like the proportions! The side profile is fantastic.
Paint it in British Racing Green, ditch the silly Hybrid nonsense, fix the "out-of-place" taillights, set MSRP around $60K and I'll take it! It would make a nice stable mate for my XJR..

This car is a manly looking car unlike the SLK's out there and if it's around the same size has the Cayman perfect!

If Merc and Throwback don't want one, I'll take theirs.
Very nice design.

The proportions are perfect and it does look like a Jag. and the size is just right for this day in age.
Yes.

Can anyone think of a better looking 2 door coupe than this for less than $75k currently out on the market, because I can't think of any.
Stunning!
BUILD IT.

Front end reminds me of the 350Z but less than the XK's front end reminds me of the last american Buick Riviera. Still beautiful, just what Jag needs, better a more affordable coupe to attract affluent younger people and men going through the midlife crisis for boosting sales than one off sedans from much cheaper corporate cousins. I mean the Lincoln LS and Ford Taurus had their charms but I do not know if the sales staff appreciated the demographic they attracted in the showroom with screaming kids and greasy finger prints left behind from the mcdonalds they were fed to shut them up on the way to trade in the family hoopty on a cheap new jag. just imagine what a Jaguar Nano would attract.

The front end particularly the headlights look too simple (a bit outdated when compared to the facelifted XF and XJ). The grill doesn't really scream Jaguar but more likely Nissan 350z and the interior particularly the center console also looks outdated compared to that of the XJ.
Don't get me wrong though. It's a good looking car and I'm sure its probably a good if not better than competition (if it hits production) but it suffers the same problem as the new Mercedes CLS, SLS or even the that Land Rover Defender Successor concept; not really as groundbreaking as the originals.
What Ian Callum should've done is take some front end and interior design cues from the Bertone B99 Jaguar concept.
