Thrustmaster Ferrari 458 Italia Wheel for Xbox 360

ThrustmasterWheel.jpg

According to Riswick's wife, there's nothing more unattractive to females than hearing guys talk about video games. Pffffft, whatever. This thing had me cooing at my desk like a 30-mph Corvette in sixth gear. Thrustmaster (the most optimistically named nerdware company) will be selling this Ferrari 458 Italia wheel and pedal combo just in time for Forza 4's October 11 release date.

I'm assuming by now, there isn't a single female that is reading this.

The 458 Italia controller is a 7/10th scale replica, complete with a Manettino and metal paddle shifters. The Manettino, however, is only a two-position selector and the Start button serves as a directional pad. The real kicker, at least for me, is the $89.99 price. That's cheaper than the sweet Thrustmaster HOTAS jet fighter controller that I had in the 1990s.

Seriously, ladies, can I be any more repulsive?

I used the Thrustmaster HOTAS setup on my family's desktop back when I was a kid and really into flight sims. Good equipment and I set it up again not too long ago and it still worked fine. I think the Ferrari controls like the Manettino and Start button directional pad are a bit much, but for that price I can overlook those items. Going on the Christmas list...

30 mph in sixth gear in a Corvette? What's that, 500 rpm?

Don't show me these things. I already have the Microsoft Wheel, which is actually pretty nice for a first-party peripheral. I really don't need to get anything else. Then there's also the Fanatec wheels with the clutch/shifter added on instead of just flappy paddles, though they cost an arm and a leg.

"Seriously, ladies, can I be any more repulsive?"

And yet you were claiming it was the Fiat 500 that wasn't attracting the ladies...

;p

And then there's the new MadCatz steering wheel with shifter for $99. Probably nowhere as good as Fanatec but a lot cheaper.

Correction the new MadCatz wireless wheel is rather $159. Haven't seen a review yet.
There will be also a new Fanatec CSR Elite wheel for XBOX 360 after Forza 4 release but that will be more like $500.
