Apple iOS 5 Will Add Song Info to Bluetooth Streaming

P1080116.JPG Bluetooth audio is a cool feature that's becoming common on more cars. What's not to like about being able to stream music from a compatible device without cables cluttering up a car's cabin -- except that OEM head units can't show what's playing, as in the 2011 Infiniti EX35 pictured above.

Currently you can only play and pause music and skip tracks back and forth with most Bluetooth car stereos. But that will change with Apple's new iOS 5. According to CNET, iOS 5 will add metadata such as artist, album and song title info to Bluetooth streaming. Hit the jump for a video preview courtesy of 9to5 Mac.

It's a smart move for the Cupertino cult since more automakers are looking to cut the cord via Bluetooth audio. And finally free themselves from Apple's 30-pin connector and the troubles that can accompany it.

Now if Pandora gets onboard we're all in.

thats assuming it actually connects. Apple has a track record of braking their connectivity with every update. If a standard exists, apple goes out of their way to not follow it.
