Print has been scratching its head for a while now about what to do about this whole nasty business of the internet. Free content versus paid content is a no brainer for most people. So is the incredible speed of information delivery made possible by the series of tubes that is in no way a big truck.
But now print seems to have found a foothold: Combination advertisements and food. You willingly pay for food, right? And if that food has an ad for a Volkswagen Golf R and a magazine, too, well that seems like a deal to me!
It seemed like a deal to the publishers of South Afica's Auto Trader magazine and Volkswagen who published this "Eat the road. Seriously." ad made of "glutinous rice flour, water, salt, propylene glycol, FD&C colour and glycerine."
So....would you?

Sure, why not? A little taste test never hurt anybody.

Not likely. But I might be tempted to lick that R when it gets here.

Ah, a cheeky VW ad. Seems to me that they're going back to their roots a bit. I've always loved VW adverts, whether it was the "Klein GTI," "Unpimp ze Auto," or the original Beetle print ads (nevermind that I don't care for the Beetle itselft). I remember having a brochure from the Indy auto show a few years ago when the new Rabbit came out, and it featured a few definitions for city-driving lingo like "hurry honker," "bumper broadcasting," and "spot sloth." Found it rather unique at the time. But my favorite VW ad of all time was technically not an ad, but rather TopGear's attempt at a Scirocco advert. "Berlin to Poland in one tank!" Funny stuff.
But I digress, yes I might try to eat it, so long as there wasn't an article or cool picture on the other side.
