Video: Peugeot EX1 Sets Lap Record on the 'Ring

Last week the Peugeot EX1 set a Nurburgring lap record -- the first time in Peugeot's history they'd done that --  with a 9:01.338 on the 12.9-mile Green Hell. That means driver Stephane Caillet was averaging just under 86 mph in an electric car. The previous record was some 50 seconds slower, set by a Mini E.

The EX1 has 340 horsepower and 177 torque from two electric motors powered by a lithium-ion battery.

When this was first announced all we had were pictures of the extreme-looking EV, but now we've got video. And why wouldn't we? Look at all of those GoPros...

Love the front end on this car. Pugs have never been lookers (kinda like Subarus) but this looks cool.

177 torque, eh? There are units that go along with that, you know. Are we talking newton-meters, foot-pounds, or something exotic like ounce-inches?

That thing sounds like I always thought the cars in the future would sound like. I want.
