Ford's Mustang Cobra Jet program has been incredibly popular for the Ford Racing division. The Cobra Jet for 2012 Featured a supercharged 5.4-liter aluminum V8 with 430 horsepower. Ford built 50 of them and sold the caged, competition-ready Stangs for $91,900 each.
And now it appears they're working on another. It's unclear from these photos if the bubble here is blocked off by an intercooler / radiator, or if it's blocked to move air. (Or if they simply wanted to reduce visibility to Camaro levels.) Either way, that's either a lot of room, or a lot of cooling and it's totally awesome.
(Also, am I the only one who thinks this grille looks like it belongs on a Mini Cooper?)

It looks like they dropped a barbecue into the engine bay.

jriz -
In this down time of the economy, I think they had to reduce the budget and put a swamp cooler on there to cool the engine.

LOL Ouch!
Drag racers always look strange.....dont laugh.....Cobra Jet is one of the most holy of Ford names and they dont put on anything that does not deserve it......as for the hood....there is a good reason for it to look like that...trust me.

Looks like a last-gen WRX STi humped a Mini Cooper and bought her some big tires for payment.

Well, it looks extremely stupid but I'm sure it's functional at least.

It looks like they grafted the cockpit window of a tank on it

Remember everybody, "Function dictates Form".
Call me superficial but,
Whatever! Ta hell with function if the form looks like That!

It all depends on what it is under the hood and what it runs.
The 2012 SCJ runs mid 8s, for a 5.4L on gas that's very respectable out of the box. So what does this run a sub 7s 1/4, and it probably beats the conventional Bug Catcher in appearance, which would be the alternative.

Correction, Sub 8s, got carried away.

Gulp! Did you guys watch that video? Every fart can equipped, V8 hating turbo 4 driver should watch that over and over......there is nothing like a Cobra-Jet.

I don't get the Mini reference unless everyone agrees that a GT500's front clip looks like a Cooper. About the hood: If that's what it takes to get the job done, by all means, Ford. Smoke those Chevy and Mopar boys! You don't need to see out in front if you ARE out in front anyway.

As long as all of those scoops are functional, the only way you can overheat that car it is because you were driving on the sun!
