So while it would initially seem like there should be less and less camo on cars as they get closer and closer to production, that's not always the case. Take for example, the 2013 Ford Fusion prototype we've spied wearing more camo than the last time we saw it.
The thing happening here is the first vehicle we saw -- and there are multiple running around Michigan right now -- is the next gen powertrain running under current Mondeo bodywork. That's an easy and cost-effective way to do things, especially with the 2013 Ford Fusion being a world car and sharing the same platform.
But now we've got more camo. Specifically, the roof and rear-end have been hidden this time around indicating that we're on to a next-phase prototype. From what we can see, the taillights are still Mondeo and we have to assume the roof is still there. Time will tell, though, what differences we see when the next gen Ford Fusion hits our shores in mid-late 2012.

Don't like the c-pillar area. Looks el cheapo, but then again, it's just a prototype. Hopefully Ford will replace some of that black plastic window trim with chrome.

I'm praying it doesn't look this much like the Mondeo in production form. The Mondeo is starting to look outdated. Can't wait for the first test between this and the next Malibu.

"outdated"
Ummm, the Mondeo will be new for 2012, too.

I live in Spain and can assure about the window trim, that the Ford Mondeo has chrome on it, so probably since that´s a proptotype they just left the black plastic part. I´ve read that following Ford´s global products, the europen Mondeo and american Fusion will be the same car. What I don´t know is if the names will be kept in Europe & North America or if the new car will also share the name.

From the front, it looks like an old Taurus. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing yet.

This is identical to a Mondeo isn't it?

If the new Focus is indicative of whats to be expected of the Fusion, it should be top of or near top of the class.
Current or future Ford's I'd purchase:
- Mustang GT/Boss 302/Leguna Seca
- Explorer Limited
- Focus Titanium/ST
- Fusion
Being a Honda enthusiasts for the last 17 years, it's sad to say that I'd only buy these from Honda/Acura:
- Odyssey Touring Elite (we actually just bought one yesterday)
- Accord 6MT coupe
- Civic Ex-L/Si
- Acura MDX

Ok, I truly can say I am a true lover of Ford's. I agree to a post stating that the mondeo looks outdated. Every car now days have a high belt line and this looks like a volvo to me except from the back. I hope this Fusion will need big competition to compete with it. Ford please do not put any ugly wheel covers on this car like the focus and base model explore.

I have a question, and i hope someone can answer it. Is the new fusion going to carry this profile or is it just testing the engines. Lol might be a crazy question but is this car looks horrible to me. The current fusion has class and style compared to this down grade of crap.
