2012 Jaguar XF and XFR Revealed

03_jaguar_xf_2012_5616x3744px_ab5d.jpg

This is old news to be sure, as the facelifted 2012 Jaguar XF and XFR were revealed last week at the New York Auto Show. But we'd be remiss if we didn't pass along the photos and info of the tidy tweaks made to Jag's "entry-level" sedan.

In short, no more googly cat eye lamps, no more silver-painted dash buttons, revised gauges, slightly bigger taillights and the now-ubiquitous LED running lamps. Looks good. Oh, and the touchscreen infotainment system has been thankfully updated as well (though judging by the XJ, don't count on anything revolutionary).

In case you can't see the differences, I've included some pics of the old car.

Now THAT is what a Jag is supposed to look like. It has that restrained elegance with a dash of "I'm better than you so move out of the lane" attitude. If I thought it would help I'd be playing the lottery right now to get one of these.

Absolutely in love with this car... I would take the XFR over the E63 and M5 and could care less about the reliability with this styling.

Much improved. Still not a Mercedes/ BMW though. Say all you want about the E-class being boring. It's a boring MERCEDES.

blandest luxury cars made? No, that's Lexus. Second blandest sheetmetal around? Easily.

bgdc, I see that you are still hating... Too bad this is a Jag, not a Bimmer, eh?

;)

@louis, I love the light thing Jag's going after but their current styling is just so vanilla. The cars have no presence in person. They're just bland and lifeless. Not Lexus bland, but kind of like a TV cop procedurals...popular but baffling in that there's nothing exceptional about them.

@ bgdc,

I guess your bland is my handsome, for a daily I rather drive something that's handsome, not in-your-face boldness... Come to think about it, which car in this class is NOT bland? Please don't say the 5er or A6, nothing can be more bland than those two...

For the interior comparison, you showed the old regular XF and for the new one you showed the XF-R.

I'll agree with louis here. I think the new Jags are stunning in person. I would take one hands down over the a new bimmer or merc.

The E-Sedan looks unattractive as a whole (I'd love a white coupe though)
The 5 series has grown to ungainly proportions
The A6... Looks like every other Audi. Not a bad thing persay but not coveted.
The M is quite large/bulbous in the rear (Dislike) but the front has a nice presence.
The CTS is designed with a ruler but also has a nice front (NOT the V)
The GS... Or ES? Either way, both lack much needed presence except the rear of the GS is somewhat nice while the ES looks like a Camry.
The XF is as a whole, my favorite in its class. Its rear is sleek, the front is now much improved and sleek. Its a unique design.

The new XF has presence. The XJ has presence (I once paused for a minute while at the theatre to gaze at one). The XK definitely has presence. They're all gorgeous designs. I can't wait for their 3 series/entry class vehicle.

According to JD Power Jag has good dependability. The 2011 report (http://businesscenter.jdpower.com/news/pressrelease.aspx?ID=2011029) has Jag #3 behind #1 Lincoln and #2 Lexus. I'm pretty sure hell has frozen over.

I would really consider the XF, the new one or the 2011.

Audi.....getting better
I'd drive a GS350 or an IS over a 4-door 3 series
The only good looking Cadillac is the non-v CTS and the CTS wagon
The new 5-series is not stylish.
Jaguar XF is up near the top in styling

Mercedes C350 and C63 are the best looking IMO.

I've made it a point to not buy sedans w/o AWD anymore but....

XFR, so tasty! Yum...

I like it, I think IL is well overdue to get a Jag as a long termer.

This is more similar to the concept back, what, 5 years ago? XFR is definitely my lottery car. ;)
