Alfa Romeo 4C: Coming To America in 2012

IMG_18061.JPG

One of Sergio Marchionne's short-term goals is to boost sales of Alfa Romeo to 500,000 units by 2014. That's no small task as in 2010, Alfa's sales rose to 112,000. Part of Marchionne's plan is to bring Alfa back to the States to be sold in Fiat stores -- most of which will be open this fall.

And now we have Alfa Romeo CEO Harald Wester confirming that the 4C -- the concept we first saw at the 2011 Geneva Auto Show -- will be sold in the US. Production of the 4C begins in 2012, the same year that Alfa is set to return to the US.

As a reminder, the 4C is to be priced between $55 - and $62K, weigh in the 1,800-lb range, have a twin-clutch transmission, 200 horsepower and a carbon-fiber chassis.

If those specs remain, it will be a stunning return for Alfa, at least in my eyes. This is what we need - a small, reasonably priced Italian. I'll live with a bit of quirkiness for the style and the weight.

I am not sure I belive they will be able to bring the carbon at that price point. The XBow on which it's based is *starting* at $88K. Hopefully mass production will allow a lower price point.

Looks like a Nissan Juke mated with a Hyundai Veloster...

I agree felonious, this is a great looking car. It's big brother, the 8C, is also a gorgeous car, if not the best looking car in the last 40 years.
