Smart Forspeed Concept Headed to Geneva Show

forspeed-concept_1600.jpg

Smart offers a hint at the design direction of its next Fortwo with the debut of the Forspeed concept car at the upcoming 2011 Geneva Auto Show.

The Forspeed concept is powered by a lithium-ion battery and has an 84-mile range. Smart says the Forspeed accelerates from zero to 37 mph in 5.5 seconds and has a top speed of 75 mph.

An unusual feature is a button in the center console that activates a "boost function" which provides an extra spurt of power for a "short time" and helps with acceleration.

Exactly how long is short?

Mercedes is going to get bought out, by whom..I dont know yet, possibly VW.

They dont sell enough MB's to survive long term, and have a terrible track record for running any car brands other than their own MB (if they were to aquire some other companies to bolster up numbers wise) . We all know the Chrysler story, now smart is in shambles, Maybach is basically dead and so is Sprinter.

The clock is ticking.

Oh yeah. This was going to be the next Bond car before the studio made a deal with Bently. I hear Jason Statham's going to use it for the next Transporter, though.

Kinda makes the CR-Z seem like a Porsche, doesn't it?
