Velvet Revolver / GnR guitarist / long-haired hippie, Slash, is auctioning off his 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray for a charity supporting abused and homeless children. According to Julien's Auctions, "Slash's Black '66 is equipped with a big block 427 cubic inch V-8 engine with 435 horsepower, 4-speed manual transmission, power steering, power brakes with 4-wheel disc brakes, Holley 4-barrell carburetor, egg crate grille, air conditioning and stock, spinner delete Stingray wheels. VIN #: 194376S105155." Estimate: up to $100,000.
Not your style (It certainly isn't mine. Never could figure out why people liked this car.) but still want to own a piece of Slash? Good news! The collection also includes at least two top hats, some stage-worn leather pants, an end table, a collection of guitars and a whole lotta heavy metal jewelry.

This isn't your style? I loathe Americans cars but this is one of the only nice looking cars ever made by American designers. Ever.

Can't stand it. C2-C5 'Vettes make me cringe. C1/6 are a different story. This generation....so...busy and tacky. I've been scolded many times by Takahashi / Walton for this viewpoint, but still, nothing I can do about it.

Wow. My favorite by far is the '57, but the '63 split window takes second.

I like the C1 too. :) After 67 I lost all interest in Corvette.

Wow. I like this one a lot, but not in black in this picture. I like the Stingray that immediately followed with the chrome blade bumpers, but then it went downhill for me, and the C4 is the least attractive. The C6 is gorgeous, and the 50's vettes were cool.

This car is a little sketchy. The wheels are wrong for the year, you couldn't get A/C with the 435HP engine (so either the A/C is aftermarket or the engine isn't original), and don't get me started on window tint on a mid-year. To reach $100K, someone will have to put a premium of about $60K on the fact that it was owned by Slash.

I love it. But agree it's overpriced, and that the knock-off wheels are cooler.

According to the listing, the starting bid is only $45K. Also, he has a rather large collection of model dinosaurs.

Mike-
I disagree 100%. This is the only gereration of Corvette that I like. Make mine a convertible, though.

I like these cars. The side pipes and that stance make it look likes it's packing some serious muscle. And it was. I wouldn't pay $100k for one though, even if it was owned by Slash. Which got me thinking, how long does a celebrity have to own a car before it becomes "Whosits car" and the "value" goes to rediculous heights?

Like many, I love this car, but it is overpriced.

You hate everything American.....why do you live here? You do nothing but bitch and moan about everything. A lot of the time I enjoy your posts but a lot of the time you just come across as mean and bitter......life not treat you very well?
I like the car....just take off the leg-burners and it would be sweet.....I still have a scar from the same car-Laker pipe combo on the back of my right leg!
