Well this isn't a day anyone really predicted. We've been seeing news of the Maybach 57s-based Xenatec Coupe for a while now, but really, never thought it would come to fruition. So few of these projects ever do.
But we're happy we're wrong as this Excelero based uber-coupe is a stunner. And it should be, the guy who designed the Maybach, Fredrik Burchhardt, designed it. The project was funded by a $93,000,000 investment by Saudi Arabia's AutoKingdom with a plan of building 100 examples. Enough orders are in already to keep them busy for a full year.
The one shown here is for sale already on Jameslist for the cool price of $950,000 plus whatever it costs to export one out of Saudi Arabia.

Maybe it’s just me, but I see Maybachs as cars that you’re chauffer around in not ones you drive yourself. … A coupe defeats the purpose of supper luxury. I say let the Bentley Continental fill that niche. The proportions of this Maybach are just too large to make it look elegant as a coupe (imo).

You missed the point. When you have so much money, that to cure your boredom you put $100million towards funding a project like this, the idea of being practical or relevant or even useful goes right out the window. This was done for one reason, because it could be done.
That said, from the one kinda small picture provided I think the coupe has magnificent lines and if I could blow a million dollars without thinking twice I'd get one to drive around (yes drive, not sit in)
In the end though I do agree with you, it was a silly project to bring past a "clay model" phase

Yeah why would I get this that looks like the 100k Mercedes Benz CL500 when I could get the Rolls 2 door?

Just a hunch but I'll bet people who buy this car won't be buying it instead of another high end car but in addition to their other high end cars.
