Planning to watch some football tomorrow? You'll be seeing this 60-second commercial quite a few times then. This is the final cut. There is no voiceover.

Talk about a sucker punch.

They're not even giving us a taxpayer appreciation discount on their cars?

You are on a roll today, ergsum- lol!

tmanz says:

10:37 PM, 11/24/10

sure, 'we all fall down'.

Some of us after being told for years "if you keep doing that you'll fall down", "no seriously, you have to change or you will fall", "why do you keep doing that? you know it is a bad idea", "please stop doing what you are doing, it is bad for everyone", year after year after year and surprise they fell down.

I think it is great that they might actually be back on track.

I think those that want them to fail are stupid. Seriously who hopes the neighbor their wife loaned a small fortune to fails so they can't pay you back?

But come on Chevy, don't pretend like life just came out of nowhere and kicked you in the nuts. When I hear "Chevy runs deep" I think Mid 80's Chevy Citation and you don't want me to remember that.

Simply build great cars. Don't over hype them. Make them good enough and everyone will hype them for you. You are on the right track but it is time to step it up.

I just saw a chevy runs deep commercial yesterday... it is awful.
GM need to fire whoever is doing their marketing.... again.

It is seriously unfortunate. You don't say sorry for Screwing up, You say something along the lines of we are doing better.

brn says:

Lot of hate in here.

stovt001 says:

11:36 AM, 11/25/10

That seems rather ill advised to me. Best not to remind people of what they're pissed about. Just do better, don't let it happen again, show real change, and maybe even provide a return on investment. I'll consider that a proper thank you.

blueguydotcom says:

01:39 PM, 11/25/10

Wow, that's almost as hilarious as those Don't Ask, Don't Tell Chevy Silverado ads (Duramax and Allison).

bimmerjay says:

03:56 PM, 11/25/10

Terrible ad. Tmanz said it best. Cut the crap, build great cars, and stop the over-hyping. Modesty will breed respect and others to do the hyping for you.

throwback says:

05:35 AM, 11/26/10

I don't see why GM insists on reminding folks that they went bankrupt. Believe me we ALL know you went bankrupt and it was due to our forced largess that you got up. Just build good cars and trucks and shut up already!

greenpony says:

07:10 AM, 11/26/10

Did the government make them run this "ad"?

mrb5091 says:

07:20 AM, 11/26/10

I'll go against the hive here and say that I actually didn't think the advertisement was that bad. Some of you seem to act as though spending money on marketing is a mistake because it could be used elsewhere - what maker of consumer goods doesn't spend money on marketing and advertisements?

Before I get accused of being a GM fanboy or something (I admit my post sounds like it could have been made by 1487), every car I've ever owned has had a VIN beginning with the letter 'J'.

1487 says:

12:01 PM, 11/26/10

"I just saw a chevy runs deep commercial yesterday... it is awful.
GM need to fire whoever is doing their marketing.... again."

They hired the head of Hyundai's PR because he was supposedly thought of as quite talented in the industry.

"I'll go against the hive here and say that I actually didn't think the advertisement was that bad"

Your membership to the cool guys club is hereby revoked. How dare you disagree with the masses? They already laid down the law- its a terrible commercial. Now these same people would be complaining if GM didnt acknowledge the help they received- just keep that in mind.

"Modesty will breed respect and others to do the hyping for you."

You felt this ad was reeking of arrogance? Seriously? LOL, man your hatred of GM runs real deep. You dont even make sense. How can a thank you ad be seen as a sign of arrogance or hype?

ptcdawg says:

05:21 PM, 11/26/10

I like car ads that are about cars...

bodyblue says:

06:42 AM, 11/28/10

How a about giving more than thanks? How about the money this deadbeat company owes its share and bondolders that was screwed out of them? The UAW sure as hell did not lose anything. Or if they were REALLY thankful, how about a discount on the IPO for its prior customers??.........what ?.........they are not THAT thankful!?

This commercial was bullcrap just like when they said earlier in the year that they had paid the taxpayers back...remember that total lie? The Obama/UAW corrupt deal that was made was dispicable. Investors got the bird and the UAW got their digusting hands even closer to the taxpayers pocket....and with almost 19 BILLION in unfunded pension liability and an unstable economy the "new" GM is hardly the stable company that some in the lamestream media and on here have tried tell us. As soon as things stablise even more the more the UAW will start demanding and the bleeding will begin again. Company shills on here have telling us that all is fine now that GM has made money for a couple of quarters and there is nothing to worry about. BS. When the us taxpayer has been paid back all 50 billion with interest AND the UAW is off of the board, THEN I might be convinced that GM has a stable future, but not untill then.
Emergencies are often used by governments to gain power and infiltrate private business and last years problems were used by the 'Bamster to pay back his Union backers for bankrolling his campaign. Thank God "Card Check" will never make it through te new congress. The recent union growth in Government employess is alarming and dangerous. The union backs Dem candidates and those candidates give more and more outrageous benifits to the govenrment workers......it is revolting. Pay and benefit packages that no private company can afford and we are paying for. This is what the GM bailout is really about, folks. A dangerous precedent that has to be stopped.

blueguydotcom says:

09:03 AM, 11/28/10

Wow, black helicopters are circling, body. Take cover.

bodyblue says:

12:02 PM, 11/28/10

No conspiracy at all...all of this is happening in the open if folks just look. Unions have been defeated in the private sector, virtualy. All that is left for them is the public sector.

1487 says:

12:25 PM, 11/28/10

LOL. The master of conspiracy theories is BACK with a vengeance.

campi3ell says:

12:34 PM, 11/28/10

Gm messed up. They got help. They are in better position and turning out better product. They make a commercial that says "we f*cked up and are sorry, thanks for the help."

Did I miss anything?

bodyblue says:

12:35 PM, 11/28/10

Please tell me what is not true in my statement. Unions in the public sector are gaining members while private sectors are declining, fact. Democraps are the party unions give the vast majority of money to, fact. Unions demand above private sector pay and benefits, fact. Politicians give favors back to the folks that put them in power, fact. The UAW gave the 'Bamster lots of campain funds. As a condition of the bailout the UAW got a seat on GMs board. Never in history has that happened as a condition of a governent bailout. If you are not smart enough to see what is going on then that is not my problem.....I will just try to point it out whenever I can.

bodyblue says:

06:14 AM, 11/29/10

"Did I miss anything? "

You bet you did.

thedarkhorse says:

11:58 AM, 11/29/10

I like the ad and think it is a smart move on GM's part to come out and say a simple "sorry and thanks". It appears moves like this are working in restoring the publics oppinion regardless of what the many GM haters on here say. They will never move towards saying things like "the bailout worked" even though it saved millions of jobs. Here is a good article that I feel is ringing true now looking back after a year and half:

http://www.cnbc.com/id/40337382

I tend to agree with Phil in this case and I usually don't.

sugarlandtx says:

07:14 PM, 11/29/10

@thedarkhorse. I went to the link and read the article. I have seen other articles from different writers all with the same conclusion; the bailout worked and saved jobs and money. But those who are blinded by ideology will never admit to anything that proves their views were wrong, like bodyblue. When facts are not on their side, they make something up that allows them to continue to believe they are right, no matter what.

racinbilly says:

"Thanks for saving the fat cats at the UAW America....."

dak454 says:

05:56 AM, 12/ 5/10

Wow, lots of cynical hateful people on this site. Whats wrong with a company saying "thanks for helping us out " (even if you didn't want to) And as for the Chevy runs deep ad, Chevy does run deep in our history and even if it makes some people think of some of the awful cars they have made, GM seems to have a real commitment to making quality cars now, and we should be happy about that. Even if it did take bankruptcy to wake them up.
