Range anxiety? You don't have a gasoline-powered cell phone, why would you need a gas powered car? Apples:Apples! Case closed.
Well, for starters, anyone who owns and uses an iPhone will tell you that every once in a while (every day), a gasoline generator would be a blessing. It's why cars and airports and Starbucks' have charging ports and why aftermarket accessory battery packs are such a huge seller. But you can't be surprised by this PSA. After all, Plug In America isn't a news source. They're not an unbiased source of EV information. They're not even Fox News (or, on the other side, MSNBC). Read their Mission Statement, "Plug In America drives change. We accelerate the shift to plug-in vehicles powered by clean, affordable, domestic electricity to reduce our nation's dependence on petroleum and improve the global environment."
So if you want bite-sized, pro-EV propaganda, here it is!
And because they provided it, here's the "Making of the PSAs" video.

though I'm sure they promote solar and wind power which are mostly built in china.
If you want to support 'domestic' electricity, support coal

More Nuclear Power!
And that's the only PSA I have.

But this is Apple commercial. Couldn't they be at least a bit more original?

These types of infomercials seem designed for the faithful. I doubt anyone unfamiliar with EVs will run out and buy one after seeing this. More likely they will get a SUV.

These commercials are so intellectually dishonest it makes me sick.
The environmental friendliness of plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles is entirely dependent upon the source of their electricity, and in many parts of the United States electricity is still largely generated from fossil fuel sources. See: http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=interactive-plug-in-hybrids
As for that first one, a cellphone powered by an internal combustion engine is certainly idiotic. But research is suggesting that methanol in the form of direct methanol fuel cells may be a far better power source for portable electronics than batteries due to a much higher energy density. So fueling up your cellphone instead of plugging it in may be a reality in the future.
This commercial was lame when Apple did it, and it's not getting any better.
