The Toyota Prius family is growing by one. But they totes spilled the beans last week when they posted the photo on the Toyota Prius' Facebook page

What we didn't know was that the new Prius MPV, would be shown officially at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. We know this because Toyota Tweeted it like the savvy social-media wizards they are. Oh em gee. In the tweet, Toyota said it, "will be all-new model w/ more comfort, style and versatility. "

Apart from seating seven and being a hybrid, there's not much we know about this new member of the Prius family. Green Car Advisor followed up on a rumor that had this new wagon-esque Prius running a Lithium Ion battery as opposed to the NiMH pack found in the plug-in and traditional Prius.

Should've unveil the Prius MPV in LA Auto Show instead imo since LA is one of the largest markets for Prius... Who the heck drives a Prius in Detroit anyways?

I don't think Toyota could design a vehicle worse looking than this new Prius but they look like they have a fighting chance.. Toyota should be putting resources to brining some fun back into the lineup.

Question: how long before this new Toyota is recalled? I'll give it 6-8 mths. And if they use a lithium ion battery...Props to Toyota for using a battery that is somewhat with the times and not the NiMH batteries...you know, the type used in cellphones in the '80s..

@louiswei,

In New England Prius' are everywhere... I know it's not Detroit but it's up north and in a colder, very snowy climate.

I think the current gen Prius actually looks pretty good, but this new model can't if they are trying to continue a familial resemblance.

The one in the billboard pic seems to sport a much more curvy roof line.
