Spy Photos: 2012 Honda Civic Coupe

CivicCoupe.ss4.KGP.ed.jpg

We've been seeing a lot of the 2012 Honda Civic lately. We've seen the 2012 Civic four-door hatch bound for foreign markets, and the big-in-the-USA 2012 Civic Sedan. And now we have the unavoidable 2012 Honda Civic Coupe. As you can see, the kinked C-pillar treatment from the sedan carries over as does the strong beltline.

What we get more of (after the jump) is the new, more upright and angular face of the 2012 Civic Coupe and a look at some production-spec wheels rolling on Michelin Pilot Hx MxM4 tires. For those of you paying close enough attention, those are the stock tires available for the 2010 Honda Civic Si. So while we're not going out on that limb... But, big wheels, correct tires, more prominent nose and rear disc brakes. We very well could be looking at the 2012 Honda Civic Si.

No word on powertrain options, but as this car remained small for fuel economy reasons, expecting a HP boost could lead to disappointment.

More photos after the jump.

A coupe but no mention of a hatchback? Honda is behind the times these days.

Reminds me of an RSX. C'mon Honda don't disappoint... PLEASE!

You guys don't even know what you have photos of.

The overhangs on this car are ginormous, it reminds me of the Cadillac XTS concept; but, if I squint a little, it almost looks like...the last gen Mercury Cougar.

^Ya, I agree...I hope that its butt isn't really that big - it reminds me of the CTS coupe.

The front end looks a lot like the Euro Civic Type-R, which is fine by me. If they give the SI coupe more than 200 HP (I'm thinking at least match the 240 horsepower of the high-revving four from the S2000) this might be my first car out of college. I like the current SI but it is down on power and looks too much like a standard Civic coupe.

I actually have to say the sides look good front meh and the mirrors seem kinda big but overall I like it. But i heard they were going to get rid of the si and since they seem to be focusing on Fuel Economey seems like there is no point in a coupe if its not going to be sporty I mean there is the CRZ if you want a 2 door sporty car with no power at least it has a supsension designed for handling. Also in the 2 door segment they will be going against genesis and mustang v6 and the new Focus which will probably get eco-boost.

Looks heftier than the plain jane current car.

I think ford with its turbos is going to have a field day over honda. honda's current line up is just lackluster...accord, civic, insight, cr-x

Looks like the bastard offspring of an RSX and a Pontiac Sunfire.

I hope they don't go crazy with their new "design language" and add a Honda Civic Hall quasi-stationwagon model...I agree in that Ford and Mazda will have a field day withtheir Focus RS and Speed3, but the Mustang and Genesis coupe are out of this price bracket.

windsor5 says:

from edmunds

Civic Si with the high performance tire package $24,255
Mustang v6 $22,145 (premium)$25,845
Hyundai Genesis 2.0T r spec$23,750

so no those two arent out of this price bracket.......

@windsor,

I stand corrected, as I was mentally quoting what I remember the Civic Si's cost was when it first came out ($20K); but, just checked both Honda and Ford's website, and the base 'Stang is $45 cheaper than the base Si! Even the WRX is within this thing's range now -price wise anyways-.

overhangs are huge. I thought this car was getting smaller for 2012. Doesnt look like it here.

Nice! Funny to say, but hope it looks at least as good as the "baby A5" Kia Forte.

Windsor, why would you quote the most expensive Civic Si with Navigation, which the other cars you listed don't have? A Civic Si starts at $22,255. The performance tires are just a few hundred $$$ more.

I make no comment about the relative value of the Civic vs the other cars you listed, but it kind of looked like you were picking options to make the Civic look worse price wise than it is.

If it gets a 1.6-2.0 liter turbo, I will certainly consider it. The current SI feels anemic in daily driving compared to a GTI.

Saturn ????

carlisimo says:

Looks Honda is trying to bring the Civic and Accord closer in styling. Crosstour aside, I don't think that's a bad thing.

windsor5 says:

Church can you not read I picked The tire performance package not navi...... which yes costs that much the mustangs performance package is just tad bit more I believe and I picked the gensis 2.0T rspec which is its respective performance package learn to read please..

uncanny_man says:

It thankfully looks a lot less awkward than the current civic coupe to my eye. Here's hoping they don't screw a good clean design with questionable details (like the accord's bulging lights and odd handles)

carlos20 says:

Honda design a Civic, and this car is a Civic, Honda will deliver a Civic, not a Mustang , nor Genesis, no Focus.
If the current Civic is still a sale sucess , why mess with a 100% redesign.

windsor5 says:

08:40 AM, 09/10/10

Yes carlos I agree with you for the most part I was referring to the Civic Si wich is currently hondas only sports model.which seems like it is being replaced by the CR-Z so it is just sad to see Honda exiting sports cars with a whimper.

Look, Ma, No Hands!!!....After the spacey interior, it's time for this dumbo to fly, especially w/the carry over of those ginormous side view mirrors carried over from the sedan. Is it me, or do those mirrors belong on a truck, instead?....I wonder if there will be a new upgraded engine? Probably NOT. It's just plain FUGLY. But it shouldn't be a surprise. It could look like an actual baby elephant with a trunk hood ornament and it will still sell to the sheeple.....LOL!!!

windsor5,

$22605 HPT

http://automobiles.honda.com/civic-si-coupe/price.aspx

$22405 HPT

Still pretty pricey compared to the mustang and genesis coupe, but not 2k over.

Personally, from the first picture with the side profile, it looks like a baby accord coupe, especially the roof line

RSX REINCARNATED, NO DOUBT. THAT'S NOT A BAD THING IN MY OPINION, MANY TRUE HONDA FANS WANTED A 2ND GEN RSX ANYWAY. IT LOOKS LIKE THE HONDA DESIGNERS OPTED TO MATE DESIGN CUES FROM THE RSX AND THE CURRENT ACCORD COUPE. THE FACT THAT THE BUBBLE TYPE DESIGN OF THE CURRENT MODEL IS ALL BUT DISAPPEARED IS A RELIEF. THE OVERHANGS ACCENT THE SPORT CONCEPT, GOOD JOB HONDA ON THAT.....! THIS CIVIC IS FLAT, CHOPPED, AND ANGLED; BEEF THE HORSEPOWER AND HONDA WILL HAVE MY ATTENTION FOR A FUN TO WORK ECO CAR. POWER PLANT WISH LIST: A V-6 J-30 SPEC (CURRENT TSX HAS IT, BUT ONLY IN AUTO, DANG), RDX 4-BANGER TURBO ENGINE. NICE! LAST ON THE LIST, 9,000 RPM REVVING 2.2L N/A AWESOME. I WANT TO TEST DRIVE ONE NOW, HURRY UP HONDA!

From the spy photos most people can pretty much see how exactly the 2012 Civic coupe will look like. The cars body design and angel is similar to the USDM 2010 Accord coupe but shorter in size, the front bumper grill and headligths style and location looks like the 2010 Acura TSX. It will pretty much be a Cross over between the Currently USDM Accord Coupe and TSX sedan.
