Fire Alarm: Ferrari Issues 458 Italia Recall

458_20100720_1.jpg Turns out it wasn't a curse or a jinx that was causing Ferrari 458 Italias to burst into flames. Nope, no witchcraft here, just a lousy adhesive holding on a heat shield that wasn't as adept at not bursting into flames when heat is applied as Ferrari-- and Ferrari drivers -- would like.

The recall is applied to all Ferrari 458 Italia vehicles sold and replaces the glued-on piece with one that is affixed more securely and less flammably. 458 owners are urged to contact their dealer immediately for more information.

Maybe this will stop the additions to the BBC's Ferrari 458 Fire Slide show.

thus begins the lawsuits by insurance companies against Ferrari for the claims they have had to fulfill to date for "Crispy 458's"

I'd also be going after them for my deductible.

To be fair, every car now a days will burst into flames spontaneously. Cant we all just accept this new fad? LOL

I can see the sales pitch. Buy a Ferrari and get a free fire extinguisher.
