Citroen Teases DS3 World Rally Car

On Sept 30, Citroen is going to reveal their new, DS3-Based rally car at the Paris Auto Show. This new car will replace the C4, which has been in service for Citroen-- winning three driver titles and two manufacturer titles -- for four years. The DS3 WRC will be a smaller car than the C4, and it will use a smaller, normally aspirated engine to satisfy the 2011 WRC rules. The point is to make the sport cheaper and more attractive to factory teams and privateers alike.

We'll have to wait on specifics and full images until the end of this month at the Paris Auto Show.

Actually should be a 1.6L Turbo motor. The Fiesta WRC is gonna be turbocharged, so this should be as well. That is a good thing because an NA 1.6L car would be too slow to be interesting.

I am pretty sure the 2011 rules were changed to be 1.6 litre direct injection turbo to more accurately reflect what consumers are likely to drive. A strung-out naturally aspirated 2.0 would be a little archaic by comparison.

We want to leave all the truly archaic metal for the dumb-dumbs at NASCAR going around in circles...oh so telling.
