Back in April when the new Optima debuted the New York auto show, Kia told us that it would start selling an Optima Hybrid in early 2011. At a media event today, Kia officials evidently made the unsurprising announcement that the Kia Optima Hybrid's official unveiling will happen in November at the LA auto show.
Specifications on the hybrid Optima should be identical to the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid we drove a couple months back.

Odd, the brake caliper is towards the rear. How is that possible with a FWD configuration?

The previous and current versions of the Hyundai Sonata have the same caliper placement. I do not know if the previous version of the Optima does.

Maybe Dan Edmunds will do a suspension walkaround for the Sonata. That'd be cool.

@yellowbal,
It is possible in a FWD configuration, though it probably came down to where the steering components (knuckles and rods) are located.

The grill is a bid odd, but everything else looks great. How the price is right.
