With a base price of $28,580, the 2011 Honda Odyssey minivan is $2,070 more expensive than a comparable 2011 Toyota Sienna.
Widening the price gap, the 2011 Toyota Sienna is available with a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that starts at an even lower $25,270. That's a $3,310 price difference in absolute minimum cost. The 2011 Honda Odyssey is available only with a 3.5-liter V6. At the other end of the spectrum is the 2011 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite which carries a sticker price of $44,030. This top-trim minivan has a premium audio system, nav, rear entertainment, a cool box, HIDs, 18-inch wheels and a power tailgate.
So the 2011 Odyssey is newer and better, and you're going to pay for it.

haha ill NEVER pay for it! When it comes to minivans, it seems smarter to go bang for your buck...no ones gonna look at this and go DAMN! thats really nice. Not that its terrible looking, it just doesnt look the part of a 44k van. The sienna at least comes in a lil better in the 38k range for the Limited, and it looks worth it as far as nicer vans go. For 44k im buying a ML Mercedes and leaving 2 kids at home!!

Honda is doing what all manufacturers do, jack up the price, gouge the first group of people who have to be the first on the block to have it, then later will offer rebates when sales slow. Since, the Honda is so much more expensive than the other vans out there, it will not be long before you see rebates. I own a 2008 Honda EX-L van, and I can tell you I would not pay 28K plus for the base. I would look at Toyota or Dodge.

I can't imagine anyone buying a 4-cylinder Sienna, and being happy with it.

Nearly $50K for a minivan?
For $37 I could get a loaded E350 and spend the rest on doing a conversion van treatment and probably still have plenty of change left over for gas.

Yikes. Parenthood is frighteningly expensive! (Or you could buy a $5,000 slightly used Dodge Caravan, the way those things depreciate…)

I still don't understand the advantages of the kink in the rear windows. Just seems unneccessary and breaks up the profile.

Edmunds, I think you need to REcheck your pricing for the Sienna as a loaded Sienna (Sienna Limited Premium) is nearly $47K!
