Porsche showed off the 918 Hybrid at this weekend's Monterey festivities...and it sounds....awesome. But that's what happens when your hybrid has a version of the 3.4-liter V8 from the RS Spyder LMP2 car.

subytrojan...that would be because it has a racecar engine (the production model's engine will almost certainly be a couple more steps removed from the track, but almost certainly plenty awesome in any case).
This thing is so much more beautiful in the real world than in the studio shots and car shows we've all seen it in. the detailing is exquisite, and it's oh so low...

This is the most lust-worthy Porsche since the 959. I understand why Porsche does their whole "evolution instead of revolution" thing, but b-o-r-i-n-g! This car is passion, excitement, enthusiasm - something that the staid Porsche company has needed for a while now.
