And the leaks ahead of the Paris Auto Show just won't stop. This time it's the 2011 Mercedes-Benz CLS leaked with shots from the official brochure.
The 2011 Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG will be powered by the company's new 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 which produces 544 horsepower. In Europe, it will be offered in several variants, from the basic CLS 250 CDI to a CLS 550 4matic.
The 2011 Mercedes-Benz CLS will go on sale in Europe in January. Expect the full release to come during this year's Paris Auto Show.

The interior looks quite nice, but I still cannot stand their current design language. Between the honking grille emblem and the droopy and half-molten looks, I have to say, "no thanks".
I would rather take the Audi S5 Sportback (if it were ever sold in the US) or BMW's four door coupe-like concept over the CLS.

My opinion on the styling is that, in the flesh, it will look stunning.
But, I think the interior, while OK, doesn't live up to the exterior-- it just looks like your everyday MB, except for the 2-passenger seat in the rear.

Pretty, but must every modern Mercedes look so tortured? They're all taking on this Madonna-esque "looks-good-thanks-to-skillful-plastic-surgery" kind of look to them that's kind of disturbing.

its an okay design, the intereior i dont know looks cheap to me, the older interior looks more luxuries, but i hope they are not going to mess there flagship sedan the s class with this new look where the hood is droped down, the new sl, its ugly, now i am thinking of getting audi's or bmw, just becuase of there designs, yes still a mercedes benz but with those designs, not anymore

"Tortured"? "Disturbing"? I bet your idea of class and beauty is Dodge Durango.

I agree with ed124c, I think it will be a stunner in person. So far I like it, but I'd reserve some judgment until some better pics (especially of the interior) emerge. These blurry low res ones really don't give the whole story, i.e. I'm not sure how one could determine the interior looks "cheap".

Rear profile looks very VW CC. Student becomes teacher?
I hate how the chrome bar across the rear juts straight into the trunk cut line.
Why is Mercedes still using a foot e-brake with manual release lever? Modern Buicks have electronic e-brakes!
Those wheels are too big. Some tire would be nice.
That interior is as uplifting as a coffin. Great use of color.

Its also great how you sit on some of your seat controls. Great ergonomics.

Molten it may be, but droopy? I think not. Crack all the botox jokes you want but I love it. The skin is stretched taut over drastic angles and swooping curves. Which is what a CLS should be. It fits MB's design language perfectly.

@questionlp
So you complain about MB's big 3-pointed star in the grill which has been around for decades on its sporty models, yet you have no problem with the enormous kidney grill which BMW is now using?
I smell a double standard here...

MB pioneered the 4-door "coupe" look and is now being copied by the likes of Hyundai. So much so, that some people think it was the other way around. This latest design keeps them ahead of the curve. Very well done, and it finally looks like a car that aught to cost 6 figures. I do detect a nod to the Jaguars of old with the sloped rear ends (which I always liked, even if it adds a few tenths of drag coefficient).
Having said that, if you're under 50 and don't need your ego boosted by a brand, you should instead buy a 2011 Mustang GT!!!! Less sophisticated, but more fun, better sounds, and more street cred.
PS The front page MB ad plays into the stereotype of MB drivers as d-bags. Yuck!

@hunter312,
I'm not a fan of the huge double kidney grills on the new BMWs either, nor have I been a fan of all versions of the Audi single frame grill. If done with the right proportions, I'll take them.

06STI i think you missed the point. you only buy this kind of car to show it off. NO ONE in their right mind would opt for a ford mustang over one of these. it separates them from the children, besides, if you have this kind of money, youd buy an M3 coupe, the upper class Mustang GT that still says luxury, power, and hey look i have money. Its the same reason why classy Hyundai doesnt work, people pay for the "respect" not bang for you buck...especially people who shop for these. Ill give credit to your GT proposal tho, its gotta be alot more fun then this...until they smack it with the AMG mess.

why didn't you guys post the picture showing the front of the car? They're out there from the same source as these...
Anyway, fantastic exterior redesign. I'd have to see the interior in person but it seems like its a safe (and predictable) hybrid between the S and E. I thought the current CLS's interior was more luxurious when it debuted than the way this one looks now. The angular interior doesn't really mesh well with the curvy exterior. Again, might be the lighting, camera angles, etc but I'll for sure be at my dealer checking this out when it's available.

It's amazing that a bunch of people here can tell that the interior is "cheap" from a bunch of low-detail photos displayed here on some cheap, poor quality scans.
