If you've been to an open track day, you know this goober. His shoes are Nomex, his car's worth more than your house, he's got the most posts on the exotic forums that you need a VIN to register for and he's incredibly slow.
But don't tell him that. Money = Speed, right?
It's Friday. Kick back and watch and let us know about your worst track day goon.
Mine? An autocross in New Hampshire where a slimy guy with a silk shirt was abusing a 1G Eagle Talon AWD turbo and complaining that his time was slow because, "The nitrous isn't working. That hiss between shifts. That's the nitrous." ::sigh::

One of my favorite track day situations was a guy who showed up with an Evo 9, covered with stickers, full cage, fire suit, R compounds, name on the door, the works... looked like he was ready for a race but oddly he was in the middle run group. I quickly found out why when on the second lap he goes way wide coming out of Andreitti hairpin at Laguna, goes into the gravel and skids to a stop just in time to avoid hitting a wall. I'm behind in my stock Evo X going at 5/10ths pace to warm up my tires and totally in shock at such amazingly horrible car control.

Whenever I see stories like these I get such a massive case of the douche chills.

This is why people prefer street racing to track racing: fewer people to make fun of you while you learn the ropes.

make fun of you while you learn the ropes? Who in the video is learning the ropes?
At a real club or event if you go in acting like you want to learn there are tons of people that will help. You go in like you know it all and you end up animated online.

tmanz got a good point. If you ask for help you will get it. Street racing is not only dangerous i.e. You can get someone or yourself killed but you also learn nothing and get animated on the internets like this guy. However, most tracks have different groups like amateur begginers so forth and so on that you can join to learn the "ropes". There are also classes and begginners courses you can take to improve your skills. Trying to learn this on the street will eventually put you in harms way.
P.S. a college friend of mine thought he would be cool with a new bike that he bought took it up to 80 miles an hour while racing someone was put into a coma for 3 weeks and now ahs suffered permanent brain damage. He didnt think he would get hurt while racing on the "streets" but he did.

At BMW CCA events students are graded from A(Novice) to C(Experienced). I've recommended that a student be moved up to a higher group as well as recommended that a student be moved down one group. The worst student to have is one with a very fast car who tiptoes through the corners and then wants to drop the hammer on the straights. I always make them give a point-by to the cars that they are holding up.

Heh last time I went to a track day, there was a guy in a yellow and black 996 Turbo that he claimed was modified to 530 HP or so...not only was it yellow and black, but he was wearing yellow and black piloti shoes and a yellow shirt with black pants and, of course, his car had the yellow seatbelts and gauges with the carbon fiber interior...bumblebee look. There was another guy there in a stock silver Cayman S who was probably the quickest guy there that day, just a really good driver, and they actually brought the entire run group into the pit lane between sessions to say "some of you who may be, for instance, driving yellow porsche turbos, need to let faster drivers by, who may be, for instance, driving silver porsche caymans." It was pretty funny, he was definitely kinda like this guy, minus the streetfire videos...
But generally it does seem like the guys with the fastest cars go slowest at track days...

BMW driving events are filled with doctors in M3s who can't take a corner worth a damn. But they sure like their shiny rims.

Must be a West Coast thing. In our area it's the podiatrists in 911s...

There are a lot of "rich" dorks out there, but most Porsche club drivers on track days are high level drivers. Real life assholes are usually in minivans and cavaliers, or ricers.

BS
Guys in minivans and Cavaliers are actually very cool because they don't feel the need to hide behind an expensive car. (Unless of course they take them to a track day).
Ricers are the next generation hot rodders. Something some old farts can't understand because it's different.

I'm not a doctor, but my apologies, I'll be sure to point you by next time.
