Our spy photographers caught this 2012 Mercedes-Benz SL testing in the American Southwest along with the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK posted earlier.
We don't have much to go on here besides the new, more upright corporate SLS-inspired grille. As we've posted before, Mercedes has a deal inked with Japanese carbon-fiber manufacturer Toray Industries to work on the 2012 SL. Carbon fiber is lighter, does well in crash tests and is unfortunately not confirmed by any shots of this car.
We were also treated to a sneak view of the interior (jump), featuring metallic pedals, a steering wheel with familiar COMAND controls and a three-spoke chrome air vent.
Follow the jump for more photos, including one that shows the engine, Mercedes-signature twin-intakes and all. (You'll have to do some zooming.)

is that sarcasm? It LOOKS like a viper because mb used the prototypes from the next gen viper that never was....hence why the SLS AMG looks similar to a viper also. There was a story about it and everything. I suppose since this will look similar to the higher end one, that youd see similar things in it.

I love how MB is going back to its roots lately, like with those airvents from the W123
